Print Advertisement Lesson Unit
Primary Trait Scoring Guide
Lesson Plan
A previous lesson plan dealt with television advertisements.  This lesson on print advertisements would deal specifically with full-page, full-color ads in glossy magazines.  I will bring a stack of magazines to class so that we can look at a number of ads and discuss them.  We will talk about warrants (underlying assumptions the ad makes or wants the consumer to make), logical reasoning and fallacies, how visual images in the ad contribute to the ad's message, and so forth.  We will analyze two or three ads in detail during class, then the students will be asked to locate and analyze an ad on their own.
