| Character's Age: 578 Sex and preference: Female, hetero Description: Vanja stands about 5'9" and weighs about 130lbs. She is very fond of her slender form (some have even said she has the sleek look of a feline) and glad that she isn't as well 'endowed' as many other woman riders. Her wavy hair is pale blonde and sliver-streaked, which she keeps cut in short just above her ears. Her eyes are small and deep-set of a light steel-blue colour. Her face and lips are thin, cheekbones high and chin small. She has been blessed with skin that wrinkles gently and she barely looks her age. Personality: If anyone ever gave out an award for prim and proper riders, Vanja would win, hands down. She prides herself on her manners and cool, well kept outward appearance. As a rider approaching her fifth decade, she is well set in her more old-fashioned ways. Having been raised by strict cotholder parents as the eldest child of seven, Vanja quickly learned to steal her emotions away and only let the calm and proper attitude show. She is very organised, almost to the point of being obsessive, and rarely ever lets her personal guard down. She gets along with anyone but will not tolerate being bossed around. She has never found the need to raise her voice or but will voice her opinions when it is needed. On a relationship level, Vanja has not been emotionally close with anyone and as a senior queenrider at Igen she the only times she stayed with a man was during a flight. History: Vanja is the eldest of seven children born to cotholder parents just outside of Igen Hold. She learned at a young age how to care for others and she was her mother's right hand at running the household. Her parents were strict but they never raised a hand to their children, always choosing the calm and rational path instead of an angry or emotional one. Vanja's father hoped she would be a likely choice for some of Igen Hold's sons or fosterlings but to everyone's immense surprise, including her own, Vanja was Searched at an Igen Gather and stood that same sevenday for a queen egg. At the age of 18 she Impressed golden Malkath and the two fit perfectly together. Vanja was a cool comfort to Malkath's haughty temper and Malkath was an outlet for Vanja's emotional sterility. After a few decades at Igen Weyr, Vanja and Malkath became senior in the queen's Wing, though never Weyrwoman status. Vanja has always been a valuable supporter of whoever stood in Igen's Weyr Leadership. Now, as she is getting on in turns, she looks forward to the time when she can rest from Falls but still be of assistance in running the Weyr. Pet's Name: Zusa Type: Firelizard Description: Deep emerald green, very small in size. Personality: Though she is small, Zusa is bright and a quick learner. She is still young at only 2 turns old and adores Vanja and Malkath. She dotes on the gold dragon as if she was the queen's personal assistant and acts like a gold herself when ordering other firelizards to scrub her large companion. Vanja has taught Zusa a few things such as searching out the location of familiar people or delivering messages, though often the green doesn't return as promptly as Vanja would like. Dragon's Name: Malkath Age: 30 Colour: Gold Wing: Gold Spark Description: Large compared to several other gold dragons around her age. A warm tan-gold colour with deeper, more bronze-ish shades along her back. Personality: Malkath is a very grand dragon and almost haughty in nature. She is proud of her size and age. She orders any dragon about as if they were drone insects in her hive, even if she isn't the most senior queen around. She tolerates Vanja's newest acquisition, the green firelizard, Zusa, but she does appreciate how devoted the little creature is. Malkath loves her rider dearly and feels she picked the best woman on all Pern to be her lifemate. Weyr of origin: Igen Weyr Abilities: Malkath is an exceptionally strong flyer and is a leader in Igen's Queens Wing. She has been flown many times throughout her lifetime and each flight is long and produces large clutches of which she is extremely proud. |
