| 1951 BSA A7 Star Twin plunger frame |
| This frame though not in that bad of shape
needs to be stripped and powder coated. YES, I said powder coated. I know
back in 1951 the frames were painted, but I'm wanting this frame to
withstand driving on today's roads with all the trash that people throw
out their windows going down the road.
Now in the first picture your see the frame as I got it
The second picture shows the frame in the blue color which I'm wanting to
paint the tins, but I don't feel that this is the right look for the frame
of the bike.
So I'm in the process of stripping it again and going to place a high
gloss black powder coat on the frame. Once I have completed this powder
coating I'll place the third and final picture of the frame. UPDATE
FEB 28, 2007: While doing research on the history of the BSA bikes I came
across some information about the frame VIN numbers. It is possible that
this is really a 1951 A10 GOLDEN FLASH as the VIN number on my bike starts
with ZA7S which was used for both the A7 Star Twin and the A10 Golden
Flash. I'm not certain which it is yet as there was no title with the
frame being this old and coming from a parts house off of E-bay. So I feel
a lot better about placing the 650cc A10 engine below into the bike. I
feel I'm keeping more with the bikes history |

| Sport style tank |
| This tank is from e-bay and its unknown what
motorcycle it has come from but the mounts appear to match up with the
mounting holes on the frame. This will be the first part to have the blue
color and silver trim, but before that it must have the dents removed and
be sanded. |


| 1963 BSA A 50 Star Twin Front End |
| From 1947-1963 most front ends had so little
difference that it doesn't bother me to be using this Front End on my
older bike. Both bikes had the springs on the outside of the forks unlike
the newer telescoping forks of the more modern bikes.
I will be sanding down the lower portion of the forks
and powder coating them either blue or glossy black, not sure yet which I'll go with but am leaning towards the blue with just a small black trim
striping along the top portion. The bolt heads would then have a black
coating added to them to make the forks pop. |


| Euro Handle bars |
| Most British bikes that came to the states
had higher 5" riser handle bars, but this just doesn't look right for
the bike so I am opting for the more accurate 3" Euro style bars.
Most traditionalist will agree that this is more fitting for a classic
bike such as this. i will not have to modify these in any way as they are
a brand new item just bought. |


| Triple Trees |
| Here we have the triple trees that will hold
the front forks on to the bike. They are from a '58 A7SS which most parts
are swappable with the '51 star twin except the rear suspension. These
will be sanded and powder coated glossy black with the frame. |

| 1961 A-10 650cc Engine |
| Yes I know this is not the A-7 engine. It's
the big brother of the A-7 500cc engine. Even though this bike will not be
a racing bike I do want to have a decent engine to scoot around town with. This
A-10 650cc engine looks the same as the A-7 500cc engine so there won't be
much of a problem here. All the mounting hardware is the same for both
engines. This will be one of the last things I work on as these parts are
the most expensive and hardest to find.
UPDATE Feb 28, 2007: Good news while doing research on
the history of the BSA bikes I came across some information about the
frame VIN numbers. It is possible that this is really a 1951 A10 GOLDEN
FLASH as the VIN number on my bike starts with ZA7S which was used for
both the A7 Star Twin and the A10 Golden Flash. I'm not certain which it
is yet as there was no title with the frame being this old and coming from
a parts house off of E-bay. So this engine will be at home in this
motorcycle without sacrificing the spirit and history of this motorcycle.

| !8" Rim and 8" Hubs |
| I have the front and read wheels for the
bike but currently have only a picture of one. Yes these wheels have
surface rust on both of them. This will not be a problem as they are going
to be powder coated blue (both the rims and hubs). The spokes of the
wheels are going to be replaced with new chromed ones. This will be a nice
contrast for the rims. As I said on the main page The body parts are going
to be as factory as possible but will have a custom paint job on it as I
want this motorcycle to be an eye catcher. |
