Biometric:
The study of methods for uniquely
recognizing humans based upon one
or more intrinsic physical or behavioral traits.

At Walt Disney World, biometric measurements are taken from the fingers of guests to ensure that the person's ticket is used by the same person from day to day.

Biometrics have 2 different functions.
  • Verification A pre-stored template is matched against a sample directly, e.g a card or known database entry.
  • Identification Identifying from all the templates which one is the closest match to the input sample.

-How accurate is the biometric?

Testing is expenisive in terms of money, time, and resources. On the other hand, the test must be precise enough to yield a very close approximation of the inherent matching capabilities of the biometric system in question.
