Holiday Greeting 2001

It's been several years since I've sent out Xmas cards (about 29 years, if my calculations are correct). So I was determined this year to send out a very special Holiday Greeting to all our friends and family.

But, I didn't want to send the usual boring 'Little House on the Prairie' letter.

Like this...

Well, it's been another uneventful year here at the 'Little House on the Hong Kong Prairie'. This summer, Kennis finished her contract on the educational research project. Then, she took a few months off. Then she found another job as a property manager. But then, her boss was a psycho bitch from hell. So now she's leaving there soon.

Meanwhile, back on 'the ranch', Brent continues to get paid an obscene rate per hour to sit at home and write marketing babble in his underwear...

Like that.

So, I was determined to write a funny and captivating story about Christmas. And maybe even try to weave in something about Hong Kong, to give it that personal touch... You know, like people who write good Holiday Greetings do.

But I couldn’t think up a good story.

I thunk and I thunk. I lost sleep. I forgot to eat. It got so bad that I stopped combing my hair in the morning. That's when I realized that I look a lot like that kid in the Harry Potter movie. Here's a picture...

But even though I looked like Harry, I still wasn't able to pull any magic out of my hat... So, I finally gave up and scoured the Internet instead. I searched for something about "Christmas" + "funny" + "story" + "Hong Kong". And I found this classic tale...

It's called 'Santa's Pee Proof Pants'. And, as luck would have it, the story does include an important reference to Hong Kong in it. Enjoy!

Then I remembered that all good Holiday Greetings are supposed to include photos. So, here's a picture of Kennis and Brent on vacation...

And (if you've got as much free time as Brent does) here's a story about what we did on vacation...

For those of you who really, really have a lot of free time, here's a link to a project Kennis and Brent wrote together...

The well-written English parts were done by Brent. The Chinese parts (all well-written) were done by Kennis.

I guess that should just about do it. So, until next year (or maybe another 29 years)...

Happy Holidays and a Merry New Year!

With Love

from,

Brent + Kennis

(Disclaimer: By the use of the words 'I', 'we' and 'our' etc..., I mean 'me'. Brent. Actually, Kennis had very little input or control over the contents of this Holiday Greeting. In fact, it may be best if we didn't tell her about all this...)
