Objective: To Practice: the verb to have in the present tense; simple vocabulary; numbers and plural; negative and contrast Procedures: Tell students that they are going to a party of snobs; therefore they have to be ready to show off their wealth. If needed, ask them to make a list of their possession. Encourage them to use their imagination. On the board, make a list of vocabulary students may need. Students get up and speak to five classmates. Assign half the students as Student A: and the other half as Student B.

Objective: Reinforce the conditional Materials: (see the link above) Procedures: Students choose from the list below five activities that they would do if they won a million dollars after participating in the Amazing Race. They write the activities (using the conditional) in the blanks on the right.

Guessing Adjectives |

Objective: Practice with the position of adjectives Materials: A set of ten or more cards or slips of paper. Write an adjective-noun phrase on each card. Procedure: One student comes to the front and is handed a card. He tells students only what the noun is. Students have to guess the entire phrase. Teacher may give hints to facilitate the guessing process. Insist on students using the entire phrase each time they guess.

Objective: Review chapter vocabulary Materials: A set of cards (or strips of paper) with sentences, a master list of the sentences Procedures: Divide class into groups of three or four. Shuffle cards and hand them out at random one to each student. Teachers use the master list to call sentences one by one. The student who holds that sentence stands up. The first group in which all students stand wins. Have students exchange sentences and play again, this time standing. Teachers call sentences randomly. When students hear their sentences, they sit down. First group with all students sitting wins.

Objective: Practice saying dates Materials: 3X3 Bingo grid Procedures: Students write 9 dates at random, one in each square. In groups of two, students take turn reading one date at a time. They cross out on the right each date as you read it. When Student A says a date, Student B crosses it out with an X if it is in the square. The first student to call out three dates in a row wins.

Tic Tac Toe |

Objective: Practice vocabulary Materials: Two game sheets with a Tic Tac Toe grid numbered 1 to 9. Label one game sheet O and one X; a list of 18 different questions with answers in parenthesis, 9 questions on the O sheet and 9 on the X sheet Procedures: Group students in pairs. Give one partner an O sheet and the other an X sheet. Player O begins by giving the number of the square s/he wants to claim with an O. Player X reads the question in that cell. Player O answers the question. Player X checks the answer against the one between parentheses. If Player O is correct, both players mark that square with an O.
