INTRODUCTION

The Harmonic Translation System (HTS) is an electro-kinesiological computerized instrument used as a tool in alternative healing therapies, as well as to promote new psycho spiritual states of mind and emotional equilibrium. HT system can be used for diagnosis and treatment purposes, base on radionics principles. It works by translation of biologically active information into synthesized frequency shifts in sound, color, geometry and electromagnetic signals. HT system comprises of software and hardware. The system software runs on PC (Windows and DOS) or Macs that are G3, System 8.0 or better. In the other hand, system hardware consists of translator device with high resolution electromagnetic emitter, which is connected to a computer's sound output jack via the stereo audio cable, as shown in figure 1. An electro kinesiological reaction plate (EK) device and a copper hand grip are connected to the respective jacks on the translator.

The use of EK with the HT System does not require any special sensitivity or extra sensory perception. The computer poses the programmed questions and the operator detects and measures the answer (indicated by pressure felt on his finger tips) on the EK reaction plate.

For diagnosis, energy values for all organs, body systems and metabolic functions can be measured. Energetic pathologies and toxicity in the body can be found. This is done in analysis mode, where analysis programs (lists) are created, stored and run. An analysis list is a group of items whose reading are to be taken, such as organs, etc. A hair sample of potential patient is put on the square design of the translator device, or one of his hand gripped the copper hand grip while readings are taken via electronic kinesiology. Most readings have two parts, namely vitality and stress reading.

The vitality reading is a relative measure of how much energy the item being measured has and the stress reading is a measure of how much stress is present in that item. These dual readings add depth and meaning to the analysis, i.e. diagnosis. Vitality Index is between 500 and 700, used to adjust the reading to the individuals' energetic levels. Vitality readings are always read relative to the Vitality Index. Vitality readings that are below 200 points of the index are considered energetically too low. Any stress reading over 100 can be significant, leading to noticeable problems.

In treatment, there are over 2000 medicinal items in the electronic dispensary. By selecting medicines from the electronic dispensary, electronic treatments can be easily composed as shifting frequencies of sound, color and animated geometries. Homeopathic, flower, and gem elixir remedies can also be created as needed.

Translation is the composing of treatment using the kinesiological interface to select electronic medicinal items and set the various energetic parameters for the creation of unique remedies. In translation mode, the system functions as a synthesizer of subtle energy medicines. Treatment is delivered in the form of e-capsules, which are complete multimedia treatments compressed into small files that can be sent to patients via e mail and can be played (and experienced) as needed by them on their own computers (via e dispenser program).

RADIONICS PRINCIPLE

The HT system functions base on radionics principles. Radionics is defined by J.G. Gallimore, as the utilization of an unusual energy or energies in devices to produce natural phenomenon or effects. Radionics has the following basis: There is an energy pervading the universe that has unusual properties. Under certain conditions, this energy has been found to affect man or his environment and can be controlled under conditions imposed by the characteristics of that energy.

Radionics is a form of energy healing, which works by restoring the energetic, rather than the physical body of the patient. Each individual emits a specific radiation, or energy pattern. The nature of disease is seen as being electrical, i.e. the imbalance is reflected in the radiation pattern if a person is unwell. These patterns are sequences of numbers used by radionics practitioner to represent objects and actions, or so-called 'rate'.

Radionics aims to correct the energy field until the 'normal' radiation pattern is restored, thus eradicating illness or disease, and indicating that the body is once again in healthy and balance state. The remedies are produced entirely within the quantum vacuum state, i.e. it is independent of space and time. Instruments are virtual, and enable a practitioner to shape his mind and unconsciously create the desired 'vibrational impression' upon the remedy. It is a completely non-physical therapy, therefore no direct contact is required between practitioner and patient. But there must be a link, an attunement between them for the energy transfer. Sympathetic resonance must exist, therefore a patient's faith and his willingness to participate is vital.

EVIDENCE (OR LACK) OF SCIENCTIFIC PRINCIPLES

Radionics device is considered a pseudo-science invention since the apparatus does not rest on any sort of scientific foundation. However, there are some scientifically validated evidence for the apparent transmission and reception of thought-derived energy which may have some relevance to radionics. Vasiliev (1924) proved the effect of hypnosis, and found that electro-magnetic shielding did not block it. Studies conducted by Jahn & Dunne (1995) and Dossey (1996), has shown that human mind can acquire information from physical targets and that distance and time are no object.

Grinberg-Zylberbaum et al (1994) found that transferred signals (indication of brain-to-brain communication by no known physical method) between individuals placed in separate electromagnetically shielded chambers are better for those emotionally closed (in tune). There are also numerous reports in Chinese journals of the transmission of thought-derived energy over long distances. The effectiveness of prayer has also been confirmed and this may resemble distant healing in its mode of transmission (Dossey, 1993)(Schiltz, 1995)(Anon, 1993).

Dr. Albert Abrams pioneered radionics principles around the beginning of the 20th Century. Other physicists and engineers claimed that Abrams' black box radionics device was essentially a jungle of electric wires, violating all the sound rules of electronics construction. However, one of his convert, Upton Sinclair, claimed that Abrams had treated over fifteen thousand people, and his investigation convinced him Abrams has cured over ninety-five percent.

Abrams's pupil, Dr. Ruth Drown had 30,000 cases of positive results curing disease with her Homo -Vibra Ray radionics device. However, the wiring of the device was not electronically rational. In 1950, the University of Chicago formed a committee to investigate Drown's methods at work. Tests conducted on her device had shown failures. FDA had brought an accusation against Drown because there was no rational basis in medical theory for this treatment, and she has been imprisoned twice.

Radionics is claimed as a fifth force unknown to science exists in nature that can be harnessed and redirected for uses as medical diagnosis and treatment. Without any information to prove the contrary, or any suggestion that the radionics devices contain some magical ingredient, it can be assumed that they contain conventional electrical and/or mechanical components, despite of the fact that there is no scientific evidence or explanation supporting its principles.

POTENTIAL HAZARDS TO THE USER

In term of safety, HT system posses no physical threat to the patients since there is minimum or no direct contact between patients and the device. No electrical or mechanical hazard is posed. However, the reliability of radionics remedies is not been proved scientifically, if the successful cases of radionics practices worldwide are not taken into account. Therefore, a patient who relies on radionics remedies instead of conventional medical consultation and treatment has to take certain degree of risk. In case the radionics remedies does not work, a patient's health condition might deteriorate, and made worse by the delay of proper medical treatment.

Besides, the radionics practitioners are not necessarily well trained. In fact, everyone can become one by reading a comprehensive manual and watching 2 hours instruction video, or maybe attending a few days training. Furthermore, the analysis and translating mode of HT system are performed based on the detection of pressure on his fingers tips on EK reaction plate, which poses certain degree of human errors. These may lead to mistakes in both diagnosis and treatment, and they could be fatal.

For example, an unlicensed woman, Shelvie Rettmann has been sued for misdiagnosing two patients by using a Rifer Frequency Generator radionics machine (December 1997). A Wisconsin resident who was diagnosed with advanced colon and liver cancer used Rettmann's service instead of recommended chemotherapy by her medical doctor. Unfortunately her cancer had progressed considerably, prognosis was hopeless and she died. Her daughter who was diagnosed by Rettmann as having breast cancer was subsequently examined by a doctor and told that she did not suffer from the disease.

RECOMMENDATION OF USE

Based on practitioners' daily experience and observations, it is suggested that radionics can address problems outside the scope of conventional science. These observation falls into category of anecdotal evidence, which does not constitute scientific proof. For emergency cases or critical patients who need immediate treatment, radionics is not recommended. In fact, patients suffering from any currently curable diseases or disorders (by surgery, etc.) should seek for conventional medical treatments. But for health problems beyond present medical science, HT system is recommended as an alternative healing therapy. Besides, a patient can always choose to undergo conventional treatment (e.g. chemotherapy) and radionics remedies simultaneously, if applicable.

As a form of mind programming, radionics has been reported to be most effectively used as long- term general mental support. Radionics remedies could assist individuals in dealing with emotional issues, childhood abandonment, traumas, adult relationship hurts, identity issues, phobias, fears, procrastination, power issues, depression, anxiety, goal setting, etc.
