| I have always been fond of these little cars ever since I was a young boy and my father bought a 1966 beetle. My fathers beetle was the first car I ever drove. It was during the blizzard of 78 I was 12 years old. The beetle was the only car we could get moving. My dad pushed and told me to just give it gas and keep going. I guess you could call that driving. I went about 100 feet in it! Since then I have grown up (debated by some) and have always wanted a bug of my own. I bought my Dunebuggy and that just wetted my whistle and the search was on for a real bug. I finally found one on Ebay that I liked but it was in San Jose California which is halfway across the world from me ( I live near Toledo Ohio.) In the Toledo area there is very few bugs left and the ones for sale are mostly parts cars (rust belt.) So I took a chance bought the bug and had it shipped to me which was no cheap affair but thats what you have to do to get what you want. I just picked the car up today from the trucking terminal in Detroit Michigan (1-1/2 hrs away) and towed it to it's new home. These are the pics I took after it was driven into the garage. The bug is very dirty from it's long ride here. I will post more pics once I start cleaning it up. Click on image for larger pic. |
