When everything else fails

Well you're stuck. You have no idea what's wrong and why. There is usually someone who has had this same problem. It's just a matter of finding them or there solution. That is not an easy thing to do. The first thing is to try to figure if it's a particular program or piece of hardware. If you can narrow it down to a program or hardware, check the programs web site. Sometimes they have a support number.
Check with the Microsoft site. Maybe you will luck out! You could also try a DOS boot disk. If the system boots, this tells you if there is a problem with any major components. To make a bootable floppy disk open a DOS prompt and type in "FORMAT A: /S" without the quotes. Make sure there is a blank floppy in drive A.
There are the news groups. Post a message or look and see if anyone else is having the same kind of problem. Try a chat room. a few good ones are lockergnome on the lockergnome web site and windows95 on the dalnet server. I am just learning to be a computer repair person so you could even try and email me at the link below. I will help if i can. I also have a personal web site that has a links to help pages. It's very useful and you can find it at kb4db's homepage.
