Tags are what make html work. An example of a tag would be < HTML >. And usually someplace in the document is the closing tag < /HTML >. The tags work in conjunction with code, an example would be the tag. In this tag we use a web address and the code "HREF" to point towards a web site. There are just way too many tags to list on this page but we will be looking at tags later.
HTML code is the easiest to learn and the most forgiving. You can make errors and still have a good-looking page. But it is always best to review and if possible have an experienced code writer check over your work. Make sure your links are in good working order. If not your web site will become very unpopular. There are programs on the market that do this and some are free.
Another important thing is to make your site somewhat color coordinated. Black text on a blue background is not a good combo. People will have trouble reading it. I advise not add a lot of graphics and animated gifs to your page as a long load time drives people away also. Keep it simple is a good motto for a new person. As you gain experience you can add the fancy bells later on.
Writing a web site is an ongoing project because to keep it interesting you will need to update your content on a regular basis. It's the best way to make sure people will return to your page. On a final note try to keep your text short sweet and to the point. Nobody wants to wade through a lot of junk to get to the good stuff. Happy coding.
