Kazoo Tate has performed drums and percussion in Omaha, NE for 20 years. He was born in Japan and became a professional musician when he was only 15 years old. Kazoo is well educated on Rudiment skills and modern drumming and percussions skills. Especially on odd beat, such as 3, 5, 7, 9,beat. These idea came from Billy Cobham (performed with Miles Davis) and Elvin Jones (performed with John Coltrane) who met them when Kazoo was in Japan. From his experience as a musician in Japan, Kazoo also taught the fundamentals of music to many young and talented musicians.
In 1983, Kazoo moved from Japan to the United States in search of a deep understanding of American Blues and Jazz styles of music. As a result, Kazoo has found true happiness in performing with Omaha and Lincoln's finest musicians
Japan is still a major influence on Kazoo's musical life. While there, he preformed on several Japanese music TV shows and of numerous live shows in Japan. Kazoo also found great rewards teaching music in Japan. His greatest pupil was Kozo Suganuma whom has became a world famous drummer in Japan and contracted with YAMAHA and ZILDJIAN Co. Kozo also come to Florida, California and New york for the drum clinic.
Since Kazoo's arrival in Omaha, he has performed with many great musicians. such as Omaha legend, Preston Love (who performed with Count Basie, Ray Charles, Frank Zappa, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder etc..and Preston called him "Japanese Buddy Rich". and Ron Cooley (who is a member of world renowned "Manheim Steamroller"), and Jon Novak, (who is one of the greatest Jazz Guitarist in the Mid West), also David Barger, John Crews(John called him"Ichiban Drummer, (Number one drummer) and Spike Nelson/G, Guitar George, Jessie Bulgard who has performed Buddy Miles(Jessie called him "Great Kazoo")to name a few.
Kazoo's resume also includes concerts with more than 100 local Jazz, Rock, and Blues Bands. Currently, He is leader of Super Mario Bros and Blue Kazoo.
Passion, experience, and great musicians working at his side has molded Kazoo Tate into a well seasoned musician. You cannot experience great Jazz and Blues music without listening to Kazoo Tate.
