Before I begin, I'd like everyone to know that I hate this series. Not as much as I hate DBZ, but it's pretty low on my awesome list.
Plotline - There's really not much plot, but here's what I remember. Satome Kazuya is your average computer person, that isn't too popular with girls. One day, his idiot rival (Reminds me a lot of Hanagata from Saber Marionette J)Kotaro Nambara, gives him a CD-ROM supposedly with a virus that'll destroy some important data. Instead, the CD-ROM somehow places an order for a small cyber doll that is designed to be a maid. What does Satome do then? Go watch the freaking series if you seriously want to know.
In all honesty, I will NOT recommend this anime to anyone at all. Let's go over the points in why so.
1) If you've seen Chobits before attempting to watch this, you better have a strong liking for anime in general or else this might damage you mentally.
2) The whole plot is cheesy, the characters are poorly made, and at times I felt as though I was watching one of those "Let's make the plot not make sense and make all the characters weird!"
3) Most anime series leave you something to remember it with. This series leaves you with a dreaded image that you'll want to wipe from your mind forever.
I could go on and on, but you get the point.
Why did I choose to watch this? It was "similar" to Chobits, says a lot of people. pshh, yeah right. If you watched Chobits and liked it, stay away from this. If you watch this first and then watch Chobits, it might be ok. Either way, try to refrain from watching Hand Maid May. I thought it'll get better near the end, but it just got worse. So I thought..
"Gah, there has to be something worthwhile about Hand Maid May!"
So after the series, I got the special. Big big mistake there. It just reminded me of how much the series sucked. This will probably be one of the only negative reviews done by me, so.... Don't watch this series and you'll be happy.
This is just my opinion, however. You might find some positive points or a strange liking to this anime, but I found it to be very kiddy and cheesy. This is based off all 10 episodes of the TV series and the special.
