Appearance: He shaved the top of his head bald with part of it in a zig-zag formation. The hair that is left is tied up in a neat bun. His face is long and his eyes are small and shifty. Niimi almost seems like a rat.

Personality: He has a very sneaky air to his personality, living up to his initial appearance. He enjoys luxury and the pleasures of women but can be quite impatient when it comes to his own job. Nevertheless, he is one of the commanders of the Shinsengumi.
