The
teacher asked if anyone knew how to write
their name. Jonah could do that!
Jonah was alittle scared but he raised his
hand.
At first some kids stared because he used his
sign language helper (called an inter-preter) to
tell him what the teacher said.
He wrote his name on his paper and
showed her. The teacher said that was wonderful!
Some of the other kids smiled and one gave
Jonah a thumbs up sign!
On the playground at recess, Jonah had lots of fun!
It wasn't easy to talk to them, but they had a big
thing in common. They all liked to play, just like
Jonah!
Jonah even taught them how to say
a few words in sign language like "hi", 'friend" and
"school". They liked learning too!

After they played awhile, it was time
to go back inside.
The teacher let them draw pictures and then it was
time for the bus to come and take Jonah home.
Jonah had a fun day at school today! And he couldn't
wait to tell his mom!
