SOME GREAT THINGS ABOUT GETTING OLDER Finally you can eat dinner at 4:00 p.m. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off. Kidnappers are not very interested in you. It's harder and harder for sexual harassment charges to stick. If you've never smoked, you can start now and it won't have time hurt
you. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember
them
either. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size. Your eyes won't get much worse. Adult diapers are actually kind of convenient. Things you buy now won't wear out. No one expects you to run into a burning building. There's nothing left to learn the hard way. Your joints are more accurate than the National Weather Service. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the
earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it
melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was
stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and
worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the
fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble
about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my
husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a
summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried
about grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and
more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical,
wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have
cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing
inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said,
"Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."
There would have been more "I love you's".. more "I'm sorry's"
.... but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every
minute ... look at it and really see it ... live it ... and never give it back. ~Erma

Imagine there is a bank
which credits your account
each morning with $86,400, It's name is TIME. Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever you have failed to invest to good purpose and carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you. The clock is running. Make the most of today. To realize the value of ONE YEAR Ask a student who has failed her CHEM exam. To realize the value of ONE MONTH ask a mother who has given birth to a pre-mature baby. To realize the value of ONE WEEK ask an editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of ONE DAY ask a daily wage laborer who has ten kids to feed. To realize the value of ONE HOUR ask the lovers who are waiting to meet. To realize the value of ONE MINUTE ask a person who has missed the train. To realize the value of ONE SECOND ask a person who has survived an accident. To realize the value of ONE MILLI-SECOND ask the person who has won a silver medal in the olympics. Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it with more because you have shared it with someone special... special enough to have your time... and remember time waits for no one. ~Author Unknown~ |
