Nurse's Prayer

Lord, please help me to bring
Comfort where there is pain
Courage where there is fear
Hope where there is despair
Acceptance when the end is near
and
A touch gentle with tenderness, patience and love.

Beatitudes for Leaders
Blessed are the leaders who have not sought the high place, but who have been drafted into service because of their ability and willingness to serve.
Blessed are the leaders who know where they are going, why they are going, and how to get there.
Blessed are the leaders who know no discouragement, who present no alibis.
Blessed are the leaders who know how to lead without being dictatorial; true leaders are humble
Blessed are the leaders who seek the best for those they serve.
Blessed are the leaders who lead for the good of the most concerned, and not for the personal gratification of their own ideas.
Blessed are the leaders who develop leaders while leading.
Blessed are the leaders who march with the group, interpret correctly the signs of the pathways that lead to success.
Blessed are the leaders who have their heads in the clouds but their feet on the ground.
Blessed are the leaders who consider leadership an opportunity for service.

After the Dawn
After a while, we have to accept there are just some things we cannot change no matter how much we may want to.
After a while, we must remember that we must be true to ourselves first and answer to our Creator above all others remembering these truths:
To lead by example.
To treat all men as equals.
To never hold a grudge.
To treat others as we ourselves want to be treated.
But we must also remember things will sometimes fall apart or we ourselves may fall short of these truths, people may spread false rumors, we may feel used, unappreciated or even jaded or betrayed at times.
It is at these times, that we must look inside ourselves and know the value of our beliefs and quietly persevere, and know that we will always do our best.
After a while, we come to learn that a good job does not mean being appreciated, and a contract could mean a broken promise. But such is life and life is what we make of it.
After a while, we learn that a good paycheck is not everything and mutual respect and fairness is more important.
After a while, we come to know, expect and understand that life is not always fair even after we have tried our best.
But we hold our heads high, wipe our tears and reach inside ourselves to our own inner faith and we learn to be strong.
For with every experience we learn. We must remember this day will not last forever.
Experience teaches, when we pay attention. Wisdom arrives, when we have learned.
You see, if we look hard enough, we can find the good in tomorrow...
After the Dawn.

You Are A Nursing Student
You will be mentally stressed.
You will be emotionally challenged.
You will learn how to work together.
You will learn to work alone.
You will learn when to speak.
You will learn when to be silent.
You will learn when to lead.
You will learn when to follow.
You will be constructively criticized.
You will be praised.
You will shed a few tears.
You will share in each other's laughter.
You will learn the need to help each other. You will learn to help yourself.
You will learn to be part of a group.
You will learn to be yourself--an individual.
You will learn responsibility.
You will learn discipline.
You will learn these things because
someday someone's life will depend
on you.
You are a nursing student
you will graduate ~ ~ ~
You will be,
in all it's wonder and glory,
a Nurse.

To Remember Me
At a certain moment a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and that,
for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped. When that happens, do not attempt to instill artificial life into my body by the use of a machine.
And do not call this my deathbed.
Call this my 'Bed of Life.
And let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives.
Give my sight to another person who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face, or love in the eyes of another human being. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teenager who has been pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play.
Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week.
Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body, and find a way to make a crippled child walk.
Explore every corner of my brain.
Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window.
Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow.
If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudices against my fellow man.
Give my soul to God.
If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you.
If you do all I have asked, I will live forever.
