Kay has never been a great traveller since she went to Belgium when she was 12.  The comforts and scenery of Devon and Cornwall have satisfied her appetite for travelling so far.  Kay studied geography at A' Level and has gained her knowledge of the world from television and books. Kay is amazed by the wealth of beauty that is very often hidden within the place that we live and Plymouth is a very good example of that. When walking around the city she often spots a plaque commemorating some local event and providing she has her camera to hand takes a photograph. She intends to put these on the web site when time permits. Her book Plymouth Plaques by CM Manley gives details of many of them. The glorious pictures that are depicted in From Devon With Love by Bob Croxford show the surroundings of Devon that Kay enjoys every day of the week. She has no desire to live anywhere else on earth and believes that knowledge of other places is important to ensure a wide breadth of view. The sentiments quoted in We See Devon by Val Doone in the 1950s still holds true today and sums up Kay's thoughts aptly. Quote from book “ They (Devonians) are what they are, and, unlike so much of the rest of the world, they do not feel it necessary to pretend to be anything else”

Placing some of the books in this category was quite hard as they could pertain to Local History as equally well and Kay recommends that you also peruse the section Local History Books as some of the places covered are also included there and these books probably have more appeal to those researching family history.

This category is quite large and so you may run out of permissible downloads on this free-hosted web site by Yahoo if so the books that have been detailed and priced may also be collectively viewed here.

Promoting Plymouth has now been set up and may be viewed here.
