This page is dedicated to Violet Rose Cottam whose books I acquired in an auction sale.

The books acquired reflects her interests and her life style whilst I have never met her can tell that she was a lady who loved to read fiction, probably travelled to New Zealand and Scotland. She acquired a family bible, had a very small Common Prayer Hymns A & M book  in which her name is printed in pencil and an equally small Testament Book. Amongst the books acquired are many Local History Books, which is what attracted me to buy the books in the first place.

So far I have managed to establish that she: -

• Born 1925.
• Attended Sunday School Gospel Hall, Raleigh Street, Plymouth, Devon, England and was awarded the book Hazel Glen by M E Drewsen by the teachers of the Sunday School, Gospel Hall.
• Married Robert John Yule 8th March 1947 in Christ Church, Plymouth.
• Had two daughters Lynn and Annie and grandmother to Laurie, Jo and Ben.
• Died "Suddenly at St. Luke's Hospice on Sunday June 12th 2005, aged 80 years.
• Funeral Thursday June 16th 2005 Weston Mill Crematorium.
• Was caretaker to William Prout's large colourful bible inscribed with his name and the year 1877 stating he was at Brentor. This book is currently with the bookbinders being repaired.
• In 1965 Lynn Yule had the Authorised Manual of the St. John Ambulance Association etc. First Aid Book.
• A H Cottam's name is inscribed in the book Thursday Afternoons by Monica Dickens and dated January 1948, the last page of which has been ripped from the book. (Assumed at this time to be a sibling)
• Her nickname was Bubs as inscribed in the book Wellington The Best of Life
• Her daughter Lynn was given the book New Forest Mystery by Stephen Mogridge and is Inscribed To Lynn From Maureen and Joyce With Best Wishes Xmas 1961.
