Introduction
Someday when the Mets are hailed as the greatest dynasty team in sports, the ongoing process of history will make millions of fans assume that New York Baseball sprang full-grown out of Shea Stadium sometime in the middle of the 1960's.  The Mets made their first appearance in New York on April 8, 1962 and played their first game on April 11, 1962.  Their first season was a horrendous set back with 40 WINS, 120 LOSSES, and 60 ½ games out of first place.  Yikes!

But look at them now!  They have two Championships under their belt, and are striving for more!

Mets' History 101

The Official Site of the New York Mets offers many choices to great information about the Mets!  I found this site to be a good site for the novice and also for long time fans who want to keep up-to-date on all of daily events of  our beloved team.
This page is a timeline that starts from 1959 and ends in 2000.  The only problem I have with this timeline is that it has not been  updated since 2000.  The page also includes photos of some of the highlights of the Mets' past seasons.  It has a tab to click on for a list of Mets Hall of Fame Members and the year they were inducted.  Click on theThe Mets tab and get the names of the players on the 25 man roster.  Click on the "stat" tab and get the batting averages of the players.

Another site that gives great information is Mets Online.  This site features a Chat Area where you can share your views with other Met Fans.  At this site you can also listen to highlights of Mets games taken from radio broadcasts.  You can click on a tab and get some great photos of some past and present players.

Shea Stadium - Home of the New York Mets

Mets Online has a good Shea Stadium tab that brings you to FAQ about Shea.  Whatever you want to know its here!  This includes directions to Shea, and where to get players' autographs.  Ballparks of Baseball shows Shea from all different angles, ticket prices, seating scheme, and security measures to check before you visit.

Mets' Mascot - Mr. Met

The story of Mr. Met appears on the websiteNY Mets under the Fan Forum Topic.  This gives you all the facts about the beloved Mets Mascot.  All the vitals and birth information you need to be a Mr. Met expert is at your fingertips!

ScreenSaver Delight!

Download some great screensavers or wallpaper.  Have full screen images delivered straight to the desktop courtesy of Mets.com and MLB.com.  These screensavers and wallpapers are good for a start, but there are plenty more on the internet that are lighter in color.  You may find one of your favorite player.

Literature

There are a few good books about the history of the Mets.  One such book is The New York Mets Encyclopedia, by Peter C. Bjarkman.  This book gives a lot of photos and a good background of Mets history.  Another good book is, Amazin' Mets: the miracle of '69.  This book chronicles 1969, the first year the Mets won the World Series.  Can't Anybody Play This Game, by Jimmy Breslin, gives a comical view of the team and the game of baseball.

Comments

I found this assignment quite challenging.  I found it challenging in my knowledge of the Mets!  It was also challenging in trying to put this page together.  It was fun to work on, and I learned a few more things about my favorite team.  The main lesson was learning how to use Communicator and putting my page on the Web.  It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it.  I might want to continue to update this page.
