| December 27, 2007 Happy Holidays!! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! We had a busy Christmas. We started Christmas vacation on Friday, December 21st. When Daddy got home from Makoti we headed out for our first stop---Grammy and Gramps house in Bottineau. Cousin Max and Auntie Alysa and Uncle Brian were there to greet us. Kaylyn went right to Grammy when we arrived. We had supper and played games with Uncle G and Cousin Max. Saturday was our big celebration with the Johnson side of the family. Ben, Renae, Zach, Jackson and Jake came from Minot and Jade drove from Fargo. The excitement for Daddy was the Nintendo Wii at Gramps house. They 'big' kids played in the basement with that while the little kids played with all the toys. We opened presents---Kaylyn loved them all but had LOTS of fun with her football and basketball from Jade. Kaylyn was wound up after that and seemed to think her place to sleep was on the pull-out bed with Jade---I don't think he thought that was the best idea but humored her until I got ready for bed. It was hard to leave all her cousins on Sunday morning but she knew we would see Cousin Madelyn when we got to G and G Mac's house. We had been at Grandma and Grandpa's in Wahpeton since the 23rd. Kaylyn and Madelyn have had a blast running around and playing together. Christmas Eve brought lots and lots of presents. On Christmas Day we attended Madelyn's baptism at the church (which Kaylyn thought she needed a front row seat for and joined Todd and Abby up front so she could see everything!!) After church we drove to Starbuck, MN to spend the day with Great-Auntie Char's family. Kaylyn played and played with Cousins Bria and Lynnea and Madelyn. We had the annual MacIver family Bingo game, in which Daddy, MOmmy, and Kaylyn were the LAST to bingo! It was fun to spend time with everyone as Daddy's family isn't always all together at Christmas time!! Yesterday Kaylyn and Madelyn spent some time in the snow. Kaylyn loves the snow and tries to walk through every snow pile she can find. The girls tried to make snow angels and walked and walked and walked through G and G's yard. Of course no one wanted to come inside when it was time but we were able to persuade them with hot cocoa and marshmallows!! We plan to head home tomorrow (Friday, December 28th) and spend a few days at home before returning back to school. Other news since the last update: Kaylyn has attended a couple of Daddy's basketball games. She likes to watch (if she can eat candy and drink pop.) The game we went to watch were in Sawyer and her friend Riley from Plaza daycare was there. She had so much fun playing with him--it was nice to see him. They sure seemed to remember each other!! Kaylyn has been busy at school. She has been bringing books home for us to read--she loves "Mary Had a Little Lamb"---she even signs the words. She has named her Barbie and her My little pony Mary as that is her new favorite name!! She is also singing like you wouldn't believe--Twinkle, Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus, Mary Had a little lamb, ABC's, and counting everything in sight! They had some fun projects at school right before Christmas---they baked candy cane cookies, frosted upside down waffle cones and decorated them like christmas trees, and lots and lost of fun crafts. We enjoyed Zach, Jackson, and Jake's company while their mom and dad attended Ben's work Christmas party. The kids made jingle bell ornaments, played Candyland, and ran and ran around the house. Two weekends before Christmas Kaylyn was invited to attend a classmates birthday party. She had such a wonderful time--the party was at Planet pizza so there were games everywhere for the kids to play!!! Kaylyn was busy playing in the large jumping castle when I noticed her gasping for air. When I got a hold of her foot and pulled her out, I realized she needed her inhaler as she was having an asthma attack. I gave her a couple of puffs and then we went home to give her a nebulizer treatment. Her breathing still wasn't quite right the following morning so I took her in to the clinic. It was the strangest thing because she was playing and running around so she didn't seem sick but just couldn't catch her breath. The doctor diagnosed it as croup--which was better than what I thought it was (Pneumonia). She was put on a steroid medication and seems much better. She is still requires a treatment everyday but not more than that. Those asthma attacks are so scary!! Kaylyn also decided that she likes to help Mommy with all the baking! She is quite the cook. Her favorite thing to do is frost the sugar cookies----her idea is to spread the frosting on the cookie and then lick as much of it as she can off the top of the cookie. She did a good job---I just had to make sure I got at least 6 done before she finished one or they all would have had her special ingredient on them!!!! I was just telling G and G our funny story from the month----Daddy and Kaylyn were home alone while Mommy was shopping on a Sunday afternoon. When Mommy came home Kaylyn was in the back room playing and Daddy in the living room watching football. I looked at Kaylyn and she had colored a beard on her face with marker (purple). Then she rolled up each sleeve---marker from fingers to elbow--yellow on one arm and black on the other. I asked Daddy how she got marker all over......Then Auntie Kelly came to visit and was going to give Kaylyn a zerbert on her tummy----you guessed it---orange marker all over her tummy as well. Just in case you are wondering---the marker came off without too much scrubbing in the bathtub!! Hope all is well with everyone!! Thanks for checking on Kaylyn!!! |
