Anxiously Expecting
'Baby Reid'
(Due on 1 Jan 2005)
Hello everyone! You have found the pages of 'Baby Reid's' progress diary.
Mom & Dad's reactions to finding out that I was on the way!

Jaedyn- My inital reaction was shock, then extreme happiness and excitedness! I can't believe that it happened all so fast! Daddy and I had planned to start trying to add to our family after November of this year, but as it goes, you decided differently! Never the less, you are on the way, and Mommy can't wait to see you!
Cody- I knew Mommy was pregnant before she did...and so did our dog. I kept telling her she was and she didn't believe me. Now, I tease her about you being a set of twin girls!
Initial Home Test: 1 May 2004
Result: POSITIVE!
------------------------------------------------
Woke up early Saturday morning to take the the home test, and was still half asleep. Mommy tried to read the test on the wrong side! It took less than a minute to register as pregnant.
Confirmation Appointment: 3 May 2004
Naval Hospital, Camp Lejuene, NC
------------------------------------------------
Had some painful, sharp cramps starting the previous night, so Mommy called and made an appointment to be seen. The lab drew a Quantative Serum test to find out if the home test proved accurate, and to determine how far along Mommy was. The test came back POSITIVE, and it showed Mommy with an HCG, (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, the 'Pregnancy Hormone'), level of 9037 MIU/mL, putting her at approximately 5-6 weeks along. A shocked Mommy was lead to the OB/GYN clinic to discuss the route needed to be taken for our prenatal care. It has been determined that due to Mommy's von Willebrand's disease, she is a 'high risk' pregnancy, and will need to make an appointment with a Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic to be released to OB/GYN, or if necessary, make arrangements with specialist regarding our care and appearance into this world! Mommy is due back at the Naval Hospital on 5 May 2004 to start initial prenatal paperwork, and get an exam.
Mommy's Notes:
------------------------------------------------

05.04.04-
So far so good...I've been having some slight to painful cramping. For those that have talked to me, there has been a detection of 'moodiness' to my voice. I get really tired about mid-afternoon, and get fussy without my nap! No 'Morning, Noon or Night' sickness yet, (knock on wood!), but there is a bit of nausea occasionally. I started my prenatal vitamins today, (horse pills!), and started to take more care in my diet. Current medications allowed for me are:
Prenatal Vitamins
Folic Acid
Ranitidine
Allegra
Flonase
We just found out today that Cody will be deploying to Iraq on 22 June, and will not be here for the majority of the pregnancy and quite possibly miss the birth and first two months of our baby's life. I'm nervous to have to do this without him, but I know that after it sinks in, I can do it. Its just the novelity of the idea that makes it hard to stomach right now.
