Kaylee found herself, again, waiting in the middle of backstage chaos.

"C'mon with me sweetie, you have that 'deer caught in the headlights' look," Leighanne giggled, as she led Kaylee to a quieter spot.

"God Leighanne, it's utter craziness back here...so many people. How do you ever find anyone in the madness," Kaylee asked glancing all around her.

"Well...Brian and I just seem to know where to find each other...and in your case...it's not too hard," she replied, casting a sideways glance, "Kevin tends to stand out in a crowd...or should I say above the crowd."

Kaylee turned her head and immediately saw Kevin moving through the crowd. She couldn't do anything but watch him as he stopped to exchange conversation with their tour manager. She wasn't even aware that she was staring at him until he glanced up and locked his eyes on hers.

"What," he mouthed to her.

She shook her head shyly, and then turned away, suddenly feeling awkward and unsure.  Self esteem had never been one of Kaylee's strongest traits. And, the longer she thought about things...the worse they became. Over thinking everything like she always did, her self doubts started to take over. The more she 'thought', the sadder she felt.  Her heart was so full of him, and he didn't have a clue. Look at him, she thought, what am I doing here?  This isn't me....for godssake, I'm a marketing rep. How damn freaking boring that has to be to him...and I sure don't look like all these other people here. Why the hell am I listening to my heart...where'd my head go?? Vacation or something???

She felt him beside her before he even spoke.

"Hi, again," he leaned closer to her, his breath hot on her ear, "what's wrong?"

She just shook her head and mumbled, "nothing .. really," feeling herself on the verge of tears.

Kevin gently turned her to face him and when he looked at her, he felt an ache in his heart.

"Let's get out of here," he said, as he pulled her close, heading for the door.  She simply nodded in agreement.

"Luke...we're going," he yelled over his shoulder, as he steered them both to the door without a single word to anyone.

"Baby....where's your car," Kevin asked as Luke caught up with them.

"WHOA...hold up boss...what's goin' on?"

"We're ready to go.........NOW," Kevin snapped.

"Use your head boss...you're just gonna walk right out there...like that...I don't think so."

"As a matter of fact...yeah..I was...WE were....Kaylee's car is right over there and WE are leaving," Kevin's voice showing his irritation.

"Kevin....leave if you want....you're a big boy....but think first, man."

Kevin let out a breath and pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling frustrated.

"OK...talk to me, Luke...what do we do?"

Luke thought for a moment, then explained that he thought it best if he followed them back to Kaylee's townhouse, in the van. He could then return to the hotel and wait for Kevin to call when he was ready to leave.  That seemed to appease Kevin as he really just wanted to be alone with Kaylee. Kaylee explained where her car was, and Luke went out to get it.

Kevin stepped behind Kaylee and slid his arms around her waist. He put his cheek on the top of her head and sighed. She pulled his arms tighter around her, as she gently leaned into him, trying to get even closer.  They were both content in the moment, to be together in silence...neither needing to speak...happy just being together.

The beeping of a car horn interrupted their quiet moment.  Fortunately, the set up of this venue did not allow for fans to get close to the secured lot, and Kevin was able to get out without a second glance from anyone.

The drive to Kaylee's townhouse took just under an hour and Kaylee felt herself on the receiving end of very intense stares for practically the entire ride.

He's going to make me wreck my damn car if he doesn't stop that......

They talked a little about the show...but nothing was said of Kaylee's reacton when she first saw Kevin after the show.  Kaylee, by now knew, that  Kevin was just waiting for the right time to bring it up.

Kaylee finally reached her house, made the turn into her driveway and stopped the car.  Kevin jumped out and ran to her side of the car. He took her by the hand and walked around the car toward the front door, just as Luke pulled over, lowered the window and yelled out to them.

"Call me when you're ready to go Kev...the hotels only about 15 minutes from here, right Kaylee?"

She nodded and turned back toward the house. Kevin shrugged his shoulders and turned to follow her in as Luke drove away.

"Give me a minute Kevin," Kaylee spoke as she locked the door and took off her jacket, "I want to let Ali know I'm home."

"I ain't goin' anywhere....go on," Kevin smiled at her as he took his jacket off and tossed it on the back of a chair.

A few minutes had passed when Kaylee returned and after searching around, she found Kevin in the kitchen....bent over...looking around in her refridgerator.

Damn...good things those jeans aren't REALLY tight...he looks great from EVERY angle...coming .. and going.

"Find anything good....and...aaah...nice view....really niiiiiice view."

Kevin laughed, as he straightened up and turned to face her.  His expression quickly changed as he finally allowed himself to get his first really good look at her since he saw her before the show.  She stood with one hand on her hip, finally smiling again.  She was wearing a black fitted blouse with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, and just enough buttons undone to reveal the necklace from Kevin. The blouse was tucked into a pair of tight black jeans. She had taken off her boots, and was now barefoot, her hair pulled up into a ponytail, and with the way she was smiling at him, she looked so sexy that Kevin felt that familiar stirring in his body.

"Well Richardson...did you?"

He took a few steps toward her.  "As a matter of fact," he said, as his voice dropped to a deep husky whisper, "I did."

"Really now....and what did you find.....pickens are pretty slim in there," she answered, feeling herself flush under the intensity of his gaze.

Kevin took her hands and put them around his neck, as he ran his hands down her arms.   He slowly slid one hand along her neck and under her hair as he placed his other hand on her cheek.

"I found....the most amazing thing," his voice slow and deep.  "I'm sure it tastes really good, too," he said softly, as he lowered his lips onto hers, kissing her gently.

"How can you be so sure," she said, in a voice so soft he could barely hear her.

He ran his thumb over her lips as his eyes searched her face. His gaze, caressing her skin like the finest silk.

"I know how good it tastes....," his lips capturing hers again, as he continued to whisper between kisses.  "I tasted it before.....," his voice full of emotion, as he lightly traced her lips with his tongue, "....tastes so good.....," was all he could say as he finally deepened the kiss.  He slid his one arm down to her waist, pulling her closer. Their tongues dancing...probing....feeling every contour of each others mouth. He continued to whisper the only thing he could think of, "you...you're amazing....you taste so good baby."

Kaylee let out a soft moan as Kevin walked her toward the couch, never breaking their kiss. He slowly lowered himself onto the couch, pulling her down with him as he leaned back into the massive pile of pillows.

"Kaylee," his voice a ragged whisper, as he kissed down her neck, "you're making me crazy. I don't know what happens to me when I'm around you.....," he whispered into her ear.

Kaylee pulled her head back, forcing Kevin to look at her.

"Kevin....I.....," her voice soft and tentative, "I...I mean...I think........"

"What baby...tell me," his face so close to hers she felt his words as well as heard them.

Kaylee looked into his beautiful eyes...windows to the soul....to his soul...and she swore she saw her love mirrored back....but she was afraid to believe that he could possibly return her love.

"N...nnn...nothing...," her voice trembling, "please...just kiss me Kevin...."

"Baby...you don't need to say please....I should be saying please.....to you.  You are everything right in my world," his voice breaking, as he ran his finger over her face. "You are everything...period.  This...us....it happened so fast....I don't know why...I don't know how.  I just want to be with you....if you're not around...my heart aches.  When I'm with you...my heart soars....do you know that Kaylee?  Do you know what you've come to mean to me?"

"Why Kevin....why me," she asked, watching his face.

"Why not you Kaylee.....," his face reflecting his confusion.

"Kevin....it's just that....I mean...look at me...look at who I am...you could have anyone...I'm not......"

Kevin cut her off with a kiss that was so forceful she couldn't move or breathe,  the realization finally hitting him...this was what had caused her to withdraw earlier.

"It's because of who you are baby...don't you see it," he said, his hands holding her face. "YOU don't give a shit about what I am...you only care about WHO I am...me...Kevin  Richardson...not Kevin fucking Backstreet," his emotions starting to get the better of him.

"But......Kevin....."

"NO...no more buts....you want to know why you......listen to me then. YOU, Kaylee...you made me smile again...you make me laugh...you make me care about someone other than me...you make me crazy wanting you.....you're the first thing I think about in the morning...and the last thing I think about in bed at night. Hell...I think about you IN bed.....I think about you being in MY bed dammit.....," his voice raised.  "And this Kaylee...you do THIS to me all the time woman," he whispered into her ear, as he took her hand and placed it on the front of his jeans.

Kaylee's eyes widened, but she didn't look away from him.

"I want to be with you Kaylee...in every way....," his eyes searching her face.

"I want that too Kevin....but not here...not like this...."

Kevin rolled to his side and laid next to her on the couch, propping himself on his elbow, gently turning her to face him.

"How is it that we seem to always end up like this?  All worked up...on a couch," he said with a slight chuckle. "Although I'm liking this couch...it's nicer than the hotel couch.  Bigger...softer....more room.....," his nose wrinkling as he started to giggle, "hard to get pushed off..."

"Am I never going to be allowed to forget that," she asked as she lightly smacked his arm. "If I recall....the landing turned out to be pretty nice."

Kevin closed his eyes and sighed. "Yeah, the landing was nice......really nice."

"You going to fall asleep on me handsome," she asked, snuggling closer to him.

"Naw...I'm still too wound up....it'll be a while before I fall asleep...adrenaline..ya know?  Not to mention something else that's wide awake now too," he said, wiggling his eyebrows.

"You're such a MAN Kevin Richardson."

"Oh baby...that I am," he whispered, his lips on her forehead, "and someday....you'll see how much of a 'man' I am...."

"Promises...promises....," she said, trying to stifle a yawn.

Kevin laughed outloud at her comment, but his mind was already working overtime. The thought of them together almost sent him running for a cold shower, but he was able to rein himself back to reality as he realized that he needed a plan.

"Kevin.......stay here.....," she looked into his eyes, as she pushed a stray hair off his cheek.

"I'm not moving.....you look too comfortable."

"No...I.....I meant all night.....don't move....stay here.....with me," she asked, looking down, afraid to see his eyes, "just hold me like this.....and......"

He pulled her tighter, and placed a finger under her chin lifting her face up to him.

"Look at me Kaylee....," his deep voice, filled with tenderness, "I want to stay....and I'll hold you all night......whatever you want from me...it's yours."

Tell her Kevin.....

"Thank you......," she let out a deep breath, "you feel so good....I miss you when I'm sleeping...."

Adjusting himself so that he could sit up a little, Kaylee repositioned herself so that she was using him as a body pillow. She wrapped her arm around his waist, and tossed her leg over his. Yawns and exhaustion taking over. Thank God it's a weekend, she thought.

Kevin watched her get comfortable, his heart ready to explode in his chest.  He gently kissed the top of her head, "sleep...go to sleep beautiful lady...."

You're an idiot Kevin.......say it.......while she's awake this time.......tell her

"Kaylee," he whispered.

No reply, just slow ....  steady breathing....and a smile on her face.

Dammit Kevin.....you love her.......you really do

He sighed....not tonight.....it'll be special. It has to be special, he thought.  He watched her sleeping in his arms and he started to get an idea....in fact...it was perfect.  A special place, he thought....not a strange hotel room....not LA....when it happens I want to wake up together.....and love her again.  He took her hand and laced his fingers with hers, placing their hands on his chest.

Home.....take her home Kevin.....where your heart is.......

That's it.....the perfect place.  As soon as the tour's over....we're gone....I'm taking you home baby, he thought, a huge smile spreading across his face.

We're going to Kentucky...............
