Between meeting him at Bridge Studios during the Gatecon bus tour, the banquet, seeing his panel and watching him model the Hathor wig at the charity auction, Amanda was 'spot on' with her assessment of Don.
A the banquet, I knew Don was a golfer so I asked him about how to reduce the slice on my iron shots. He gave me an excellent lesson on just how to prevent such a thing, all the while doing it with the kind of charm he's famous for. What kind of charm? Well, as my friend Denise put it, "Don could charm a nun out of her habit." Yeah, that kind of charm.
Just as he was about to tell me a golf joke, he was gently reminded some other folks wanted to take pictures with him. I told Don I'd ask him to tell that golf joke at the panel the next day--which I did. Something tells me the one he told on stage was much cleaner than the one he wanted to tell me in person.
Don in person is so much like Hammond it's amazing. Sometimes I thought I was chatting with Hammond about his golf game instead of Don. I'm hoping I get more golf tips next year. Now that I've corrected my slice thanks to him, I need tips on getting better distance with my iron shots.
