Vacation - Canadian Rockies

I really had a great time in this vacation. The scenery is spectacular. The friends I went with are humours and interesting. We saw a lot of wild animals, like bears, goats and deers in a close distance.

7/2 Arrived Calgory at night. National Car Rental didn't give us the car I reserved at first. We got two mid-size cars, Mustang. I regretted I didn't upgrade to the full size car. It is really inconvenient for 4 adults to come in and out of the car.
Joke of the day: Sohpia is under age to drive.

7/3 Drove pass Banff National Park and toward Jasper National Park. We were getting more excited by the Rocky's scenery, and also seeing a bear walking along the road. Late afternoon, we finally arrived our first destination, Columbia Icefield. The snowcoach tour bus took us up on the icefield and we were there playing with ice for a while. Everyone tried the glacier water. Since the water is so cold, James invented a funny way to drink the water. You can find it in my yahoo's photo. We reserved two cabins at Alpine Village in Jasper. One of our cabins has kitchen and living room. Hey hey, we decided to take this larger cabin and let three guys stay in the one without the kitchen!

7/4 Hiked along Maligne Canyon. Went to Miette Hot Spring in the afternoon. I felt more like going to jacuzzi. There is no sulfur smell in the water. The first time I immersed myself from hot to cold water, it's terriable. However, when I came back to the hot pool, the sizzling kind of feeling came out from my body and that really made me feel good. I got addict to it after repeating it few times. I believe everyone enjoyed the feeling and had fun switching between cold and hot water. Had dinner at Jasper downtown late in the evening. The sky is not dark yet even around 11:00pm.

7/5 Took Jaster Tramway to the top of the mountain. It's really cold and windy out there, 3 degree C maybe. Visited Mount Edith Cavell. Saw a small avalanche on one of the glaciers. In the night, back to Jasper downtown for dinner, Eric found a 'NEW' sign on the street. What does it mean???

7/6 Sophia has been telling me it's nice to walk along the river close to the cabin we stayed in. I decided to take the walk this morning since it's our last day here. This is a secluded and romantic hiking trail. I really enjoyed being with myself and praised to God to let me see all this wonder. I saw the deer coming out from forest for water. Later, I saw an old man who was playing the violin beside the river. This is a pleasant way to start the morning.
Joke of the day: I encouraged Chanh to yell to the passengers on the ski lift to tell them where they could see the bear. When we found out the 3rd passenger was actually the park ranger who was smiling at us, Chanh was so embarrassed. We just couldn't stop laughing at him. Chanh beat me on the ski lift.
Joke of the day: I-Feng spent CAD $25 on the moose stuff animal and $55 on the can that holds this stuff animal. James made a comment, "If I-Feng buys one more moose tomorrow, all the mooses will be in discount."
Joke of the day: We hiked on the trail which requires more than 6 people to hike together in order to scare the bears away. Sophia got so scared by the sound Chanh made. She thought there was really a bear approaching to us in the forest and she screamed so loud that everyone eventually thought there was a bear!
Joke of the day: Chanh asked the waitress, "Can I have a porsche?"

7/7 Had a very good brunch at Chateau Louise. We all made funny poses in front of the silver ball. Hiked the trail along the Johnston Canyon. It was a very hot day and we enjoyed standing in the cave close to the waterfall and being splashed by the water. I like Jasper more than Banff since there are less tourists.

7/8 Drove on the unpaved road. We took few photos with scenery that has very clear water reflection. Then it started raining. Too bad, we missed the opportunity to explore this area where there are few people knowing about it.
Joke of the day: Chanh got this evil killing rabbit and washing it under the bridge story to tell.
