This was an assignment in my Enjoyment of Theatre class. Here's the rules:
Create your own character by: 1.) relying on your imagination or 2.) basing him/her off of someone you DON'T KNOW. Show your character in a speech, a dramatic monologue, you write for the character to speak on stage. You should write in the 1st person. Don't try to write a whole scene, just reveal as much as you can about your character in a speech of 300 words.
"I remember a time, which to me seems so long ago, when my life was normal. I was innocent, nave, carefreein other words, happy. Aah, to be young againa child without knowledge of the evils of the world. Now I am the quiet one, the one who sees too much and hears more than she should. I can easily read a persons true character, easily see what they have spent a lifetime learning to hide. I stare into their eyes and see their soul, their true-self. I know what youre thinking, isnt that beneficial, doesnt that come in handy? No, my friends, it only brings sorrow and pain.
I am beautiful, at least according to those around me. But am I married, do I have a lover? No. There have been men, an occasional date or two here and there, but no one who has shared my bed. I want love, as old-fashioned and romantic an idea as that is. I stare into mens eyes and what do I see? I see their lust, desire, age-old need to dominate and satisfy, but no where do I see love. I want love, pure and elemental, a bonding of hearts and souls. So.no, no man has claimed me. I am the lovely virgin, wise beyond my years and yearning for a life and love that I cannot seem to find. So I wander the world.traveling, learning, seeking. Even now I am being sought after by a man who believes he is strong enough to claim me. We shall see. I am a strong woman, independent even in my need for love. I know how to survive in this savage world we live in. Let him try. He is in for a disappointing revelation, for I belong to no one."

I'll let you wonder who that character is based on ;)
