A NAVY WIFE'S POEM

He loves me, he loves me not,
This man dressed in blue.
Stand beside me and protect me,
Torn between us two.

The nights were long and lonely,
Sometimes the days unbearable too.
And many times I questioned,
My fate with this man in blue.

Holidays, celebrations, passing of old,
So much my eyes have seen.
My man in blue is sailing the seas,
On who's shoulder can I lean?

The children are growing before my eyes,
I wish he could only see.
But he has to go so far away,
To keep this country safe for you and for me.

Now his service is complete,
Passed on to the young at heart.
For now we can grow old together,
Together till death do us part.

Today our time together begins,
Many moves and memories we keep.
Tucked away in our minds and attic,
Sleep, peaceful country, sleep.
