In September…

I met up with a colleague in our Italian office whom I have never met at Duomo in the evening. And of course, during my wait in front of the Duomo alone, an Antonio had to try convincing me that he was also alone and that he would love to show me Milano. He left politely after I answered him that I was not waiting for my boyfriend but my blind-date girlfriend.

My “blind-date girlfriend warmly invited me to her home for dinner, which her fiancé prepared. Funny enough her fiancé is also an architect like Kenny. The home-cooked meal was truly delicious and the company was fascinating. Thank you Joanna! I still remember your uncle’s plum liquor!

September was a fun and busy month. For work, I got to see a few cities in Europe that I had never been before and I also got to meet and work with some very interesting people.

Dublin - Guinesses really do taste smoother and better in Ireland! The taxi drivers are cool! I even paid a visit to the Garda (lrish Police) on my second visit because my credit card got swiped in the hotel during my first visit :-(

Dirby – Nice scenery but haven’t really seen the place apart from the office and the hotel. By coincidence they put me in a room with a theme: The Great Wall Room. Hmm…

Birmingham – The same, haven’t seen much except for the huge warehouse (felt more like a giant freezer) and the hotel.

Milano – I love Apertivo! Cocktails and delightful “real food” snacks! Respect for Italy! Italians and Chinese have at least two things in common – we both share our passion for turning our vital needs: FOOD - into art with passion! The second common thing? Our sexy accents ;-)

I arrived to Milano on a Sunday, so I could roam on my own for a day. With some help of a lady I met on the street (with the limited Italian words I picked up in my Lonely Planet during the flight and universal sign language we created on the spot) I got on a train to Milano city centre from Saronno.

I dropped by Castello Sforzesco for an hour and popped in the metro to Duomo. I got out, and Duomo was half covered!!!!

When I got back home and emailed an Italian friend whose hometown is Milano, he told me that every 15 years they clean the Duomo.  Grrr….!
