In May…

One solo Spanish guitarist claimed the open hall designed by Gaudi that amplifies their arts through out to the park. I could not help but bought one of his CD’s to show my appreciation. We dropped the money in his guitar case and took a CD. The artist did not stop or looked. He was so fully into his music. Life, hope, talent, music, the sun, joy, such basic and naked things in life – all exhibited in Park Guell. What a celebration of life! I did not publish any photos of Park Guell here because it would simply not be able to capture the essence of the park by taking its still-life.

Kenny and I made a 5 day trip to sunny Barcelona during the last week of May. It was a good break from our life in Rotterdam.  The sun of Barcelona not only highlights its very twisting and interesting architecture from Gaudi, but also blesses the Catalan people with joy and energy! This trip truly shed sunshine into our life.

We stayed in the City Park Hotel – highly recommended. We stayed in the room in the corner on the second floor overlooking the busy streets, listening to the night life. Close to the university, right beneath our window was the subway station Universitat, just a couple of blocks away from Placa Catalunya. It is a 2 star hotel but Kenny and I both agree that it was better than the 3 stars we have been.

We visited the typical tourist attractions such as Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, the pavilion by Mies van der Rohe,  Museu Picasso, Miro... We even (highly demanded by Kenny) went to L’aquarium which is not recommended by the both of us. Out of all the places, Parc Guell made the most impression and brings smiles to our faces until today. On a hot summer Sunday, we took a long hard walk up the hill to Parc Guell (see photo on your left). It was considered the workout of the year, but it was all more than worth it when we reached our destination. We saw tourists, as well as local families, couples, and friends enjoying and respecting this happy park. Four talented teens playing their music on a park bench with dozens of spectators who cheer and applause for the potential future celebrities. They even sell their own CD’s!
