The Pilots are off and running for 2004! Defense played a big part of the first game against the Pirates with JOEL ALGREM and MARK GASKINS making a great duo at pitcher and 1st base. Their stellar play helped stop the Pirates with two scoreless innings. AIDAN VESELING played alert in right field in his rookie debut. The offense was pretty good, too. ERIC PAGE played in his first game, and went 3 for 3 with a double. CHRISTOPHER GRECO and DARVELL FLAGG got it done on the bases, scoring 2 runs and 2 RBI's a piece. Way to go Pilots!!!
May 8, 2004----PILOTS(26) VS SPIDERS (15)
The Pilots came out swinging again in week 2 against the Spiders. All batters reached base everytime up to bat, led by DARVELL FLAGG with 2 home runs and 4 RBI's, and MARK GASKINS with 2 triples and 4 RBI's. JOEL ALGREM also had his first home run and played key defense with an unassisted double play. Our young outfielders AAILIYAH PRUITT and ISIAH WHITE ran down the Spiders' big hits.
May 12, 2004----EAGLES(10) VS PILOTS(22)
The Pilots get another good supply of offense in game 3 vs. the Eagles. JAYLIN DAVIS legged out a 2 RBI double, while GREG PAGE smacked 2 doubles to center field, driving in 2 runs. DARVELL FLAGG is proving to be almost unstoppable as he smashed a grand slam as ninth batter in the 1st inning. The defense held up also, stopping yet another opponent with multiple innings under 2 runs. BOTH teams are to be proudly applauded for great sportmanship and some tough play on a very rainy night!
May 24, 2004-----PILOTS(22) VS RANGERS(23)
Despite cold wind and a hot Rangers team, the Pilots played great. We had heads-up plays from the outfield by KRISTEN BIALEK, who also went 3 for 3 at the plate, and CHRISTOPHER GRECO and GREG PAGE, who both hit triples. AIDAN VESELING played fantastic in right field and hit 2 doubles. SAMUEL WOOD had the biggest night of all, going 3-3 with a home run, 3 runs scored, and 5 RBI's.
May 29, 2004-----PILOTS(23) VS BARONS(27)
A young Pilots team really stepped up their efforts despite being down five players in this postponed game on the Memorial Day weekend. ERIC PAGE and KRISTEN BIALEK had to cover a lot of ground in the short-handed outfield and both went 3-3 at the plate. CONNOR HALE also went 3-3, had 3 RBI and played the whole game at shortstop. SAMUEL WOOD played his first full game in the infield at catcher and went 4-4 with 2 RBI. BRIAN LAMB at pitcher kept the Barons in check and scored 4 times on 4 hits. Thanks for stepping up to all the players, and parent helpers.
June 5, 2004-----PILOTS (17) VS. YANKEES (12)
The Pilots got some stellar play from their seasoned veterans and hot rookies. JOEL ALGREM set the tone with an unassisted triple play at third base in the first inning. BRITTANY CARLSON and ISIAH WHITE made several great stops and quick throws from the outfield. BRIAN LAMB drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning, while AIDAN VESELING overcame a tough wipe out sliding in at home for the final run of the game.
June 9, 2004-----PILOTS (23) VS. REDS (19)
The Pilots offense stays hot in the second half of the season led by MARK GASKINS with two home runs and five RBI. BRITTANY CARLSON went 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBI. ISIAH WHITE and JAYLIN DAVIS each had three hits with two runs and two RBI and made great plays from the outfield. Great defense was capped off by BRIAN LAMB who caught a pop up at pitcher to start a double play with MARK GASKINS. Great baserunning by all of the Pilots!
June 19, 2004-----PILOTS (25) VS. PIRATES (14)
The Pilots got it done on both sides of the ball again. JOEL ALGREM, and DARVELL FLAGG each had unassisted double plays at first and third base, respectively. BRIAN LAMB and KRISTEN BIALEK came up with some big plays at pitcher and shortstop, also. ERIC PAGE continued his hot hitting going 3-3 with 2 runs scored. CONNOR HALE stole the show with a grand slam at ninth batter in the fourth inning, ending his day going 3-3 with a double, triple, home run, 3 runs scored and 8 RBI. Wow Pilots!
July 3, 2004-----PILOTS (24) VS. EAGLES (24)
The Pilots finished the regular season in a real thriller against the Eagles. ERIC PAGE got things going right off the bat with a lead-off home run, going 4-4 with 3 runs and 3 RBI. JAYLIN DAVIS did not let up going 4-4 with 4 RBI. BRITTANY CARLSON had a bigday with 3 hits and 3 runs scored and some great play at the four positions she played in the field. AIDAN VESELING also played fantastic at first, second, shortstop and third base, while His 4th inning single to the Eagles pitcher set up the biggest play of the game for CHRISTOPHER GRECO. CHRISTOPHER really took one for the team by sacrificing himself in a show of great sportsmanship, applauded by both teams. WAY TO GO PILOTS! GOOD LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS!
