Classroom Constitution
During our study of Connecticut government, I used an interdisciplinary approach to implement a real life connection. Students worked with me to create their own classroom constitution. They established criteria for a safe and healthy classroom environment. The students signed the constitution and it is displayed in the classroom as a reminder for accepted behaviors. I was introduced to this self-responsibility strategy in my coursework in outward bound adventure based counseling. This has been a very effective way to establish and maintain classroom management.
