HAHAHA! I have got the second chapter done! I just want to say thanks to Chocho Atome for really encouraging me to write! Thanks!!!!! Disclaimer: I do not own sailor moon. You know who does ;-) ********** Fire in the Night Chapter 2 ********** Serena glumly walked down the hallway of her new school. What a year it had been. When her parents had died she just ended Middle School. And now she was entering high school. But since she lives with her aunt and uncle she had to attend a whole different high school considering they live in a different neighborhood. She knew no one here! Unfamiliar faces walked by her. Wanting the day to quickly end with, she looked at her schedule to see where her first period class room was. She had Language Arts first. Quickening her pace she walked down the hallway to where her class room was located. She saw a sign on the open door way that read `Mrs. Davis Room'. Looking at the paper in her hand she saw this was the right room. She stepped in silently. The teacher Mrs. Davis was fairly old. Maybe in her 40's. Her hair was pulled loosely back in a neat bun. And her blue eyes held a kindness when she looked at Serena. "Welcome dear. What is your name. And I will tell you where your assigned seat is," "My name is Serena Anderson," the teacher looked at her seating chart quickly. She then pointed to a seat that was up front. "You will sit, there Serena," she said smiling at her new pupil. Serena smiled back and took her seat. She put her notebooks underneath her desk and sighed. She soon heard the bell rang. After a minute or so more people came streaming into the class room. Mrs. Davis showed them there seat. She saw some students leave the class room though. The probably were at the wrong place. Soon all the seats in the class room were filled up. Except for the one to Serena's right. Mrs. Davis walked up to the front of the class room and silenced the students. "Hello class. My name is Mrs. Davis. I will be your Language Arts teacher. Today, since it is the first day. I have decided we should all get to know each other. So one by one will you each please come up here and tell us your name and a little bit about your self," Right when Mrs. Davis sat down a boy a few years older than Serena sat came bursting threw the door. He looked up and smiled at the class. "Hey! Sorry I am late," he said and faced the teacher, "Did I interrupt anything?" he asked her. "Well. You must be Darien Shields. The only person in this class who was missing. We were just about to get around to telling the class about our selves. Since the attention is already on you. Why don't you start," Mrs. Davis said. Darien shrugged and smiled. "Well, my name is Darien Shields. I like to play sports, read, and I want to be a doctor when I get older. That's about it," he said. He smiled and sat down next to Serena. Serena didn't look over at him but she felt the intense gaze on her for a bit. Soon the teacher called her up. She slowly got up from her desk. "My name is Serena Anderson. I am an only child. I like to draw, anything to do with music, and I want to be a interior designer when I get older. Nothing really is happening in my life right now. So, I guess that is it,"she said. She started to walk back to her seat. But someone quickly yelled out. "Hey aren't you that girl on the news. The one who was found with a little girl. And the one whose parents died in the fire last summer?" Serena looked up to see who said that. But she saw no one move. She felt scared stiff. She never knew the news coverage had aired that. Had her cousin and parents been the only ones that died and she the only one that got hurt? Probably. She never thought about that. Serena turned her gaze down. She felt tears coming to her eyes. `Don't cry not. Not now damn it!' she said to herself. She walked briskly back to her seat. She sank down as she felt the stares of her classmates on her. The teacher quickly changed the subject by calling the next student up. ~~~~~~~~~~ The rest of the day was no better. In all her classes everyone knew her as that girl who was in the fire last summer. And every time tears threatened to fall. There were two people who were in all of her classes. One was a girl. Her name was Ann. She had flaming red hair, that went good with her blue eyes. She was very popular among the students. The other person was the boy who was late, Darien Shields. He had midnight black hair, that brought out his blue eyes. He too was very popular. He and Ann were obviously boyfriend and girlfriend. The way they held each other. So intimately. Through out the day she always heard snickers coming from Ann as someone mentioned her as the girl in the fire. Darien, on the other hand, she always felt his intense gaze linger on her for a bit. At the end of the day Serena slowly began her walk home. She walked down the crowded sidewalk full of kids. The walk home wasn't all that long. But it seemed to take an eternity to get out of the crowd. She walked slowly. She didn't want to trip. Soon she found a clear way open in the crowd. She bolted forward wanting to get through. She almost made. Right when she was about to exit, she ran smack into someone hard. She fell to the hard ground. She was ready for the stomping that was going to come. She knew people were going to trample over her. But it never came. She felt strong arms wrap around her waste and pull her up. Who ever it was, easily made it through the crowd and out. Serena slowly looked up at her savior. It was Darien. He smiled down at her and released her. "Thanks for helping me," she said in a low whisper. It was a miracle Darien heard her through all the shouting. "No problem," he said and walked off. Serena watched as he joined Ann. He wrapped his arm around her waste. He turned and looked back at Serena. When their eyes met, she smiled once more and walked off. She soon was at her aunt and uncle's and house. She walked in without making a sound. She didn't want to disturb anyone. She crept to her room and softly shut the door. ~~~~~~~~~~ The next day at school, Serena seemed to be known all over the school. Not in a popular kind of fashion. But as the girl who was in the fire last summer. At first it was sad, having to be reminded of those stories. But now it was annoying having a bunch of kids come up to you and ask you the same question over and over. "Are you the girl that was in the fire last summer?" Many of the teachers were sympathetic. They did all they could to stop the kids from asking Serena that. But there was still that certain kid that always got away to asking her. By Serena's third week of attending the school, most of the kids had stopped asking her the question. The topic was getting old to the school. Serena breathed a fresh air of relief. Her classes were starting to get harder now. At first it was a bit easy to Serena. But now the classes were getting tougher. Mrs. Davis knew that the kids were struggling. She decided to set up study partners. You were supposed to study at least once a week with the partner. Mrs. Davis didn't want the children to choose there own partners for fear they would get nothing done. "Ann Seidel and Jonathan Townsend will be partners. Diane Cater and Rick Silvy will be partners. Serena Anderson..." Serena listened closely as her partner name was called, "and Darien Shields will be partners..." Serena looked over at the boy that sat next to her. He was looking at her. When their eyes met, he smiled at Serena, and she smiled back. At the end of the day, Serena made her way home. Darien and her had talked at lunch. They decided to meet with each other every Wednesday. They would switch every week with what they house they studied at. Serena smiled to her self. She had been secretly attracted to Darien. But then again every girl in the school was. She couldn't wait till Wednesday. Whack! Serena hit herself on the head. NO! She remembered how she failed Brittany. She couldn't think that way. She deserved no happiness. ~~~~~~~~~~ End of Chapter 2! How was it? Email me! Ok in the story Darien is a bit older than Serena. He is in his last year of highschool while Serena is in her first. I am not sure if they mix up grades like that but that is how it is in the story for future events.
