For the most part the trip went good. Besides my crash on the last day and the fact that all the pictures were lost it was fun. We met up with a group of about 50 people or so Wednesday afternoon. Darien the owner of Prowlers went with us. He was trying out a new full suspension buggy. It was powered by a 4-cylinder turbo Subaru engine. He took me for a ride from camp to comp hill and up about 20 runs. It is going for about $40,000. It only took them 8 days to design it till the day it was finished.
I was surprised by the number of people who took their trucks in the dunes. I saw everything from fully tricked out trucks to stock trucks mastering the dunes. There were a lot of nice baja bugs up there too. Personally I must have saw at least 15, most of which were full on class 5 racers. If you have a Prowlers catalog turn to page 31. The blue baja you see about 20 feet in the air was there. It only has a 1776DP. It might not be able to go all the way up comp hill but it is still bad ass.
Everyone waited till Saturday night to go big. Someone from our camp went up comp hill going 110 and when he went to turn the bead on the front tire broke and he rolled twice going up hill and broke his arm. The female passenger fortunately was not hurt.
There was also a lot of good riding. A hand full of dirt bike riders found about a 100 something foot double. Just incase anything were to happen I waited till Saturday to try it. As luck would have it I came up short about 2 feet. I supermanned off my bike and instead of ditching the bike I tried to save it. The bike totally ran me over and I was done the rest of the day.
We started packing first thing Sunday morning. Again I am sorry about not having pictures. We did however get some great shoots on film.
