Muses and Angst Demons
Hello! Need a Muse or an Angst Demon? Here's some rules on how to get them.
Definitions:
Muse--A person or object that inspires. Muses inspire for most types of fics except Angst fics, which are inspired by Angst Demons.
Angst Demon--A little creature that inspires angsty fics.

How to Get a Muse
There are many different types of muses. Insanity Muses inspire randomly insane humor fics: you can get these the easiest. Simply bribe them with lots of sugar and/or caffiene. But where to find them? Most humor sites have lurking Insanity Muses around...just look. Insanity Muses go around with lots of other Muses because they are also PWP muses and all otakus are insane.
Romance Muses love sap and mush. Promise them fruit and lots of romance stories. You can find them at most coupling shrines. Beware though: unless you want to get your writings really messed up, only go to coupling shrines of couplings you like. Oh, and promise them fruit and berries...if you're feeling really kind, chocolate. Cherries inspired my S&S fic Cherries, for example....
Poetry Muses like good poems: look through your English books. I also recommend reading lots of poetry fics and offering certain animals now and then: ravens seem especially critical. Many Poetry Muses work with Romance Muses, so get them together if you want sappy love poetry. In that case, roses, violets, and chocolate are very useful. Ummm...make sure you have a sense of what type of poem your muse is making you write.
Songfic Muses differ taste to taste. It all depends on the type of music. Most Songfic Muses work with Romance Muses as well, because most songs Songfic Muses use are so friggin' sappy. [Personally: The Beatles make GREAT songfic sap.] Your tastes may differ, though. Whatever the taste of the muse, go along with it. Promise lots of MP3s and CDs of songs to the particular Muse's taste.
Be wary of Mary Sue Muses. They will inspire you to put yourself into your fics. This is SCARY unless done right. *shivers* I have one, and it doesn't work too well for me...if you want it, take it. Just feed it your favorite food every once in a while. And don't forget...BE CAREFUL. They're seen with Insanity Muses (because, well, otakus are insane) and Romance Muses (pairing the otaku with his/her favorite character.) Be careful....
Citrus Muses should not be used unless you are an adult wherever you live. They inspire you to make characters have gratitudous sex scenes. Often seen with Insanity Muses (Insanity Muses inspire PWP fics) and Romance Muses (no da) along with the occasional Angst Demon, they feed off of the lemons and limes in your refrigerator...if you write a sappy lime, oranges as well--a sappy lemon, grapefruits. If you really want one, just go to some hentai sites and read on...if you dare.

How to Get an Angst Demon
Angst Demons are a bit harder. Search around fanfiction sites with LOTS of angsty fics. Grab Pop-Tarts and your favorite G-boy plushie. [My Wufei works extraordinarily well for angsty 5XMeiran fics, not to mention the classic "meaning of justice" fic here and there. Heeros work well if you want to explore the meaning of being a soldier...Trowas are good at this as well. Quatres are great at exploring family issues...Duos work for many things, including lack of family, the meaning of war, and...other things.]
If you don't have Pop-Tarts, I've used pancakes. With lots of syrup. For some reason, my Angst Demon works best with breakfast food. *sweatdrop* Well...the plushie should be of the character you wish to torment for hours upon hours on end. The Angst Demon will latch onto the plushie and give you an idea...write the idea down. Then, the Angst Demon will let go...CAPTURE THE DEMON! You don't want to lose one of those things, they're very valuable.
Angst Demons work great when you're depressed. Just feed them food, give them the plushie, and start writing. Sometimes writing will even cheer you up! ^_^
