Fateful Dreams*(2/9)By Sakata Ri Houjun Warning:Although not lemon this time around, it does get rather citrus. My friend dubs it my Sprite chapter. (get it? lemon-lime) ******************************************************* Tasuki glanced over at his lover with an amused smile. The former monk had sunk even lower in the car seat, staring down at his balled hands to avoid watching the scenery moving by outside the car window. When he had handed over the money for the rental car, he had mentioned rather nervously that he hated vehicles. Tasuki had no idea just what hi lover had meant by that comment, but he never thought that Chichiri would be afraid. "Tasuki," Chichiri said in a high, scared voice. "You're going too fast. Please slow down." The former bandit glanced down at the speedometer and sighed. He was barely going fifty as it was. "Chiri," he murmured while reaching out with one hand to cover those tight fists. "It's going to be okay." "Keep your hands on the wheel!" His voice rose in panic. Tasuki snatched his hand back with a curse and suddenly pulled the car over to the shoulder of the highway. Chichiri turned to him with wide, scared eyes. "Stop that," the younger man commanded. "Tasuki?" He looked about ready to cry and was visibly shaking. The former bandit shook his head. "You've been this way ever since we left. You're starting to make me nervous." Tasuki undid his seatbelt and slid over to embrace his lover. Chichiri returned the hug with a n apology while nuzzling against Tasuki's neck. The younger seishi waited until Chichiri had stopped shaking to pull away and kiss his lover, gently, reassuringly before sliding back to put his seatbelt back on. "I won't let anything happen to you. You're safe in my hands, Chiri." He flashed a fanged grin before pulling the car back out onto the road. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So which way do we go next?" Tasuki asked looking over his lover's shoulder at the map he was reading. The former monk traced his fingers down the highway they had traveled, the tips giving off a soft red glow. He circled around the spot where they had parked, next to a greasy diner, pausing at each of the four direction. Tasuki glanced from the map o his lover's face, whose eyes were still closed in concentration. Finally, a flare of light burst from his fingertips, across the paper, leaving a distinct red trail that followed another highway. Chichiri opened his eyes and looked at the map. "If we take this exit here," he pointed to the map. "And follow the freeway west, we should get to where we nee to be." "Hot damn!" Tasuki wrapped his arms around his lover who leaned back into the embrace with a tired sigh. The former bandit nuzzled his lover's neck with his fangs. "A little tired?" "I'm still getting used to my powers. It's draining me more than it used to." He placed a hand on Tasuki's head, running his fingers through the hair. "I didn't mean to act so childish earlier." "Hey don't worry about it. So you're scared of cars? So what? You never held it against me about my fear of water." He squeezed the older man who turned around to return the gesture. "You were just making me nervous and I need to keep alert in order to drive." He chuckled softly while rubbing small circles on the older man's back. "I can't concentrate when I'm worrying about you, now can I?" "Tasuki...," Chichiri murmured before finding his lover's lips. "I love you. I don't want to be such a problem." "You're no problem," Tasuki whispered, brushing his lips against Chichiri's as he spoke. "And I know you love me." "I'm just still trying to figure out my role in all this. Ever since that dream... I know that I'm to make the difference this time, but I'm not sure how." A tear ran down Chichiri's cheek as he spoke and Tasuki leaned in to kiss away the tiny drop of salty liquid. Tasuki had always hated to see Chichiri cry, it broke his heart every time. He reached over and turned off the car light, plunging the two of them into shadowy darkness. The moon hung full and bright in the night sky, its light streaming in to paint silver highlights over everything. The younger man leaned back in his seat. Chichiri clung to him a moment more before sliding down to rest his head in Tasuki's lap. The redhead laughed nervously. "Planning on doing anything?" "No," the former monk sighed. "Just tired." "I won't get any sleep with you like that." He ran his fingers through Chichiri's silken locks, lovingly. "Not that I'm complaining" Chichiri rolled over until he was looking up at his lover's face. The former bandit smiled, fangs peeking below his upper lip, hair falling into his eyes. "What are you thinking about, Tasuki?" "Just at how beautiful you are." The younger man laughed at his lover's reaction to his words before tracing fingers across his pale face. "Gods, don't look at me like that. You make me want you all the more. Then I'll make certain you won't get any sleep wither." Chichiri finally laughed and diverted his attention to the stars shinning through the windshield. Tasuki noticed where his lover's gaze was directed and sighed as the mood sobered again. "Do they remember?" "They do. At least enough to hear my call and respond." "What do you think they'll think of us being together?" Chichiri smiled at that thought. "I honestly don't know. Definitely surprised, maybe shocked, but supportive in the end." Tasuki returned his fingers to his lover's hair. "How should we break the new then?" "That's not important." The former monk locked eyes with Tasuki's, his expression serious. "We're gathering to protect Miaka and we need to figure out who or what we're to fight against." "Any idea yet as to what it might be?" "I can't even begin to guess because the danger is surrounding Miaka and she's in Japan. I have to be a bit closer to her to use my magic like that." He leaned his face into Tasuki's warm hands when the younger seishi began caressing his cheek again. "We'll meet up with the one other seishi who's living in this country tomorrow, if we make good time. The others will be waiting for us in Japan by the time we get there." "You've got it all planned out, huh?" Tasuki chuckled as he ran his rough thumb over his lover's lips. "Do Tama and Miaka know we're coming?" "Tamahome knows. He heard my message as he is a seishi, but Miaka has to be kept in the dark about our arrival." Chichiri darted his tongue out to taste the skin. The younger man moaned and shifted uncomfortably. "Why not tell her? Want to surprise her or something?" "Not at all. The force is targeting her. If I contacted her, it will then know of our arrival and may act before we get there." Even though his face was serious, he warm brown eyes held a wicked gleam. He slightly turned his head and began rubbing his cheek across the hardened flesh of his lover who tried to still him with a hand on his shoulder. "Don't," he breathed quietly as he panted. "Some one might see us." "It'll be our last night alone for awhile," Chichiri whispered into his lap. "I want you, Tasuki." The former bandit laughed nervously as he shifted again. "Can't say that I don't blame you." Chichiri looked up confused. "I am pretty amazing aren't I?" Tasuki laughed again as he waggled his eyebrows. The older man snorted. "You're as bad as Hotohori used to be." "But you're not stopping either, are you?" "I should, just to teach you a lesson." He unsnapped his lover's jeans and began to unzip as he talked. "You need to be punished." Tasuki threw his head back with a gasp, hands tangling into his lover's hair as his flesh was engulfed by a moist heat. "Trust me,"
he gasped. "I'm being very thoroughly punished."
