"Threes" Company..

The Tigers ended up as the #6 seed after round robin play.  A little disappointing given that they started off the season 3 - 0 but playing in the lower bracket might be good for their confidence heading into tournament season.

The Bruins Kumas were first up for the Tigers and it was a mismatch from the beginning.  The Bruins were missing arguably their best player who was out with an injury.  She was really missed by the Bruins as the girls opened the game by going on a huge 14 - 0 run with a barrage of treys and the rout was on from there.   The girls built a 20+ point lead in the first half behind the scoring of Shelby, Kris and Kayla who were all on fire from behind the arc as well as taking the ball to the basket.

The 2nd half was more of the same as the Tigers remained hot and continued their 3 point assault with Shelby, playing on a sore ankle, taking the lead.  The girls played much better defensively led by Erica, who had some nice blocks and steals.  Jodi was taking the ball hard to the basket, CC was boarding well and Kristen and Lauren were creating havoc on defense.  The final score was 46 - 20 Tigers.

The girls played much better and seemed to have fun on the court which was missing the past few games.  It was one of those games when the shots were going in - the scorekeeper informed us that the girls hit 10 treys.  That must be a record for the team!  It looks like if the girls play aggressively defensively which they did this game, it helps their offensive game by getting open looks.

I know the team is wishing get well thoughts to Kristen who got injured in the game.  She's tough and I'm sure will be back as strong as ever.

Next up, the San Fernando Sparks.  They look to be playing pretty good ball and these 2 teams have built a little rivalry lately with a series of close games.   Good luck girls!

For San Fernando, defend the pick and roll. Watch out, interior players, and guards need to defend close and be aware of screens -- switch quickly or fight through them, use your foot speed.
