Tigers Squared

The first game of the 2007 SBY season had the girls play their older sibling team, Tigers Storm.  The Storm is going through a period of transition with Tiffany, their leading scorer, leaving the team.  But can't feel too sorry for the Storm since they do stand in the way of the team's goal of taking league.

The first half started off slow with both teams having trouble scoring.  After a few minutes Kayla began warming up and made a few baskets including a three.  Then Emiko took over with offensive rebounds and drives.  "Streak Shooter" = Kris and was that ever right.  After throwing up several straight air balls, she comes back with 3-4 baskets in a row.  With Shelby leading the full court press, that took its toll on the Storm and the girls built a solid lead by half.

The 2nd half was more of the same with the girls building a twenty point cushion behind scores from Shelby, Emiko, Jodi and Kris.  Erica was her usual rebounding machine and had a nice move to the basket waved off for some unknown reason.  Lauren, Kristen and CC played good defense and helped the team limit the Storm to under 20 points.  The final score was 38 - 17 win for the Darlings.

One good thing on playing the Storm was we got to combine snacks.  The spam musubi from the Miyashima's was delicious.  Even the sesame chicken seemed to be a hit with the crowd.  I was hoping for leftovers to take home but... :)  Great game on a nice day.  Couldn't ask for more..
