Tiger vs. Hoopsters JAO Part II
The 2nd half of JAO began with a game against the Hoopsters. A team that was playing very well last year but is in a little funk currently. The team looks to be intact minus their big but appears their historically sharp shooting is in a slump.
The first half was a tightly contested, fairly low scoring effort. Jodi and Kris made some early baskets, along with good free throw shooting by Emi had the girls up by 4 or so at the half. The girls were still off on their shots but again their press and defense kept the Hoopsters down. The press seems to keep the girls aggressive which is a good thing... : )
The 2nd half Kayla put on a show with a variety of outside shots including a 3 pointer and drives to the basket. The Hoopsters struggled to score (I think they only had 4 points in the 2nd half) and the girls poured it on. Kris had several baskets in the 2nd half, Emi and Jodi continued their hot free throw shooting and a beautiful inside move by Erica (who also did her stellar job of rebounding) rounded out the scoring. It was good to see Lauren getting up shots and a big "at a girl" for C.C. who played while not feeling well and while in, patrolled the middle. Final score 33 - 12.
All I can is the Las Vegas debacle against this team has been "corrected".. Viva Las Vegas!
Next up, Evergreen 6th grade team. Not a pushover as I first thought as they have won 3 games already. I hear they are a long team but will back down from physical play and pressure. So girls get your pads on.....
