Tigers vs. BTR

The first half of the JAO season concluded with a game against FOR BTR.  A tall team that is getting better and tougher. 

The first half was a defensive struggle for both teams.  BTR has the "Yao Ming" of JAO and has really become a force offensively and defensively.  The girl's press created a lot of turnovers and the girls converted a few of those into scores.  Points by Kris, Emiko and Jodi kept the Tigers up in a low scoring half.

The 2nd half provided more scoring and action as Kayla took over offensively hitting some outside shots including a three and had several nice drives to the basket.  BTR kept it close behind their center crashing the boards but key late baskets by Lauren and Erica and free throws by Jodi sealed the game for the Tigers.  The girls continued to play good, aggressive defense (Kris and Emi with 4 fouls - which I don't mind too much) which really was the difference in the game.  Final score 21 - 15.

Girls finish with a 4 -1 record in the first half.  Remarkable since I don't think they have played anywhere near their best ball (outside of the 1st game).  But they have played well enough to be extremely competitive against some good teams.  Good luck girls in the 2nd half of JAO!  Let's take the league!
