Bruins In Ruins...

Game 9 vs Pasadena Bruins Kumas

The end of the SBY season had the Tigers hunting the Bruin Kumas for a second time.  With 1st and 2nd place already determined, the final game was just that, the final game.. : )

The first half was slow, really slow in action.  So much so that I don't remember much of what happened.  I do remember Jodi having a very good half and making a beautiful runner as the first half ended.  But it just seemed a struggle for both teams offensively.

The 2nd half had a little more action (it had to compared to the first half) with the girls trying to push the tempo with their press.  The Bruins had a pretty aggressive, skilled player who had no fear taking the ball coast to coast.  The girls did a decent job controlling her drives and began to take control.  Shelby and Emiko started to get their offense going and even Kris started taking the ball to the basket (yikes!) and getting foul shots.  Kayla as usual was steady running the team and Erica/CC did their dirty work under the baskets.  The girls eventually pulled away and won the game 20 -13.

It appeared to me that there was a little "burn out" factor with the girls.  Their legs in the past few games seemed to get tired a little earlier than usual.  It was a long season and some time off to recharge their batteries is in order.  But all in all, it was a very good season with girls getting experience to play older/bigger girls.  I think it is good for the girls to play up and hopefully it will continue.

Next up, JAO!... It will be interesting to see how the team adjusts playing without Shelby who really elevated the team's play with her skill level.  And you know the other 5th grade teams will be gunning for the girls! : )  It should be interesting.
