In 1995 and early 1996 a group of couples engaged in activities that resulted in bringing forth bundles of female joy to the community. These newborn daughters were nurtured carefully with a rattle in one hand and a toy basketball in the other. As the girls got older, apple juice was replaced with Gatorade and running lines in the house replaced the wayward crawling. The "1, 2, 3's" were taught as 1 is a free throw, 2 is a basket and 3 is a basket beyond the arc and so on.
The sports loving parents soon realizied they had no more game left in their bodies but wanted to continue their love of basketball by watching their "Darlings" take to the hardwood. In early 2002, as fate would have it, this group of "Darling" daughters were brought together by the Tigers Organization to form a basketball team. This was the birth of the Tiger Darlings and with the guidance of Coach Eric, Coach Derrick, Coach Bobby and the support of the great parents the legacy continues....... |
