Barlad, Romania
Our group stayed in Barlad, which was about a 15-minute bus ride from the
hospital. Barlad is a good-sized town. Here, we were able to buy baby goods
really cheap, exchange money and even get film developed. Most stores here kept
their goods on shelves behind the counter, so we did a good deal of pointing and
signing. Luckily, "Pampers" is the same in both languages!
Our Hotel
Our group stayed at the Hotel
Moldova In Barlad. It was a decent hotel, with TV (some channels in English!),
mini-fridge and single rooms. They didn't have air conditioning, but GV provided
us with fans.

Note to future volunteers: You might want to bring a few rolls of toilet paper--theirs is very rough!
The Zoo
The zoo in Barlad was a sad
place. Most of the cages were small and really dirty.
