Twilight in the Valley of Kong, 1990.

Oil on Canvas, 36x24.

This painting was done in the early morning hours when one can see a gentle mist in the Kealia Valley where a stream meanders into the sea.  People nick name this mountain King Kong Mountain because one can see the profile of King Kong in its peak.
Wai'ale'ale Dreams, 1978.

Acrylic on canvas, 32x24.

On a rare January morning you can see the summit of this magnificent mountain.  The wettest spot in the world, it is often shrouded in clouds.  The clarity of this day, the innocence of youth and the excitement of blowing that dandelion is captured here.

God's Country, 1990.

Acrylic on Canvas, 24x18.

The west side of Kaua'i was always known as Gods Country.  This painting was done from a strip of road coming out of Koloa Town just before going through the beautiful tree tunnel leaving the wonderful Mahaulepu Coastline and Poipu Beach.
Boys of Lumahai, 1978.

Acrylic on canvas, 32x24.

Lumahai Beach is the perfect setting for the keikis or children of Kaua'i to play. It has been the backdrop of numerous Disney Movies and other Films such as South Pacific etc.  It is nicknamed Bali Hai.
Monumental Dreams of a Youth, 1976.

Acrylic on canvas, 12x16.

This painting is of the vision I had of what a person might have felt, discovering Kaua'i for the first time, with its raw beauty.  The youth is bigger than the mountain, the fish is flying in the air, in a splash of water causing a rainbow, and the whole world of dreams are ahead of him.
Relic of the Past,
Looking into the Future, 1990.

Oil on Canvas, 12x16.

This is a portrait of Antonio Bona, a retired Sugar Plantation worker who is sitting in front of my parents store, the T. Akutagawa Store which was one of the last of the Ma and Pa stores to close down in the middle of old Kapa'a Town.  The store closed in 1981 and Hurricane Ewa blew it down in 1982.
Embryo of a Man Flung into the Modern Age, 1974.

Oil on canvas, 24x 36.

This painting was painted during my college years.  While dozing in Logic Class I saw this vision.  My professor was saying, Time does not exist.  And I felt that time does exist. We, our lifespan is the evidence of  time.  We are all anti-gravitational beings becoming planetary beings.  The face is Michealangelos Renaissance Man.  The beginning of the Modern Age, but the body is still a child.
Watergoddess Leaving
After Her Healing Is Done, 1973.

Acrylic on canvas, 36x36.

This is a self-portrait in the surrealistic genre.
The soft breeze of the almost transparent curtain and the subtle texture of the walls blend in with the sand and water, making this piece meditative, calming and peaceful.
Gods Blessings, 1990.

Acrylic on Canvas, 12x16.

In Hawai'i rain is commonly referred to as Blessings from God, and the beautiful Opaekaa Falls is the result of these blessings.  If you look closely you will see the hand of God in the clouds..
Birth of Baraka, 1996.

Acrylic on canvas, 35x24.

This painting was done in rememberance of my bird Baraka who when he died took on the form of this beautiful Fairy with cobalt wings and when he died he said to me,Have a boy.  So, as a result, I was working on this painting while I was pregnant with my son Christopher.  It shows his new girl fairy and a baby being born from the navel of  the pond, a golden light angel.
World of Light, 1999.

Acrylic on Canvas, 45x32.

World of Light was done in Denmark before the year 2000. It represents to me my beginnings on Kaua'i, my ancestrial land Japan, the ocean that separates us and my sons heritage in Denmark on the bottom and of course the 360 degree rainbow that unites day and night, sky and ocean, sun and moon.  Look closely, there are all kinds of hidden images waiting to be revealed.
Oberons Domain, 1990.

Acrylic on Canvas, 30x20.

Oberon is the King of the Fairies. I place him in the Magical Fern Grotto, a place on Kaua'i where you can only get to by boat or kayak.  The hanging fern gardens are fed through a natural spring and the half mile hike to this rain forrest is truly a walk into Oberons Domain.
Transformation, 2000.

Acrylic on Canvas, 18x12.

The Crownflower shrub is where the Monarch Butterfly lives and she is the Queen of the Monarch Butterfly.  This painting was done right after the turn of the century, and the turn of the millenium, which marks the time for transformation of this Planet Earth.
Titainias Dream, 1989.

Acrylic on Canvas, 20x30.

Titainia is the Queen of the Fairies and in this dream she is bringing me home from Oregon, where I went to school.  It was a promise that I made to her that I would paint her and other fairies that I had seen in my visions.
Fantasies of Brazil, 1976.

Acrylic on canvas, 12x16.

My nephews gave me some of their animal cards and I chose ones that I liked and created this little jewel for them.
Valley of The Ancients, 1990.

Acrylic on Canvas, 17x40.

This veiw of Kauai is right across from the Wailua Golf Course.  The Sego Palm is one of the oldest trees in the world.  Kauai is the oldest island in Hawaii, and the Wailua area is where the ancient ones and the royalty lived.
