The following entries are from a meeting on January
26th, 2007 for
coordinated by Phil Villatora, director
of "Na Keiki O Ka Aina"
Present
were Phil, Erika, Gary, Evan, Jill, Paul, David, Lauralee,
Heather and Puamana.
There was consensus that each person submits a personal mission and a perceived
mission for Na Keiki O Ka Aina. David
agreed to compile and post these for the group to review.
What is your mission?
Larry- "My mission is to provide
connection and support for individuals and organizations who are espousing
sustainability principles for the culture and environment of our aina."
Paul- "My personal mission is to be a channel for divine energy
that heals the Earth and her children."
Jill- “I am here for the trees.', said the
Lorax... My mission: Native Plant healing & sharing with folks and Kids. My
possible future role in Regeneration's Botanical Garden in as the Propagation
Manager. I would be Liaison with the Nursery Folks, Native seed distribution
Island wide. Organizing the Growers.... which very well could be a project of
Na Keiki O Ka Aina and the keiki~ certainly may be a while befor we are ready
for that stage... I am also in Natural health care, cleansing and medicine
making. That is my work now."
Lauralee-
"My personal mission is to share the essences (love, light, joy, strength,
freedom, peace) with people of all colors of the rainbow, all around the world,
simply by living in harmony with Gaia."
Evan- “…a
place to gather and share culture.”
David- “My mission is
creating a model of sustainable living for Kauai.”
And
what do you see as the mission for the organization, "Na Keiki O Ka
Aina"?
Larry- “My perception
of the mission of Na Keiki O Aina is to teach cultural and sustainability
principles to our children and they will teach their parents."
Paul- "I see the
mission of na keiki 'o ka 'aina as living and teaching Earth-based Polynesian
culture."
Lauralee- "...my
purpose with Na Keiki Oka Aina is sharing with the children a sustainable way
of life through creative expression (music, art, dance, play,
ect.), environmentally sound life style and the essence of Polynesia
culture."
Jill- [see above]
Evan- “…a
place to gather and share culture.”
David- My perception of a
mission for Na Keiki O Ka Aina is being a place for children of all ages and
backgrounds to experience, learn and enjoy Polynesian Culture”… a farm, garden
and school where we can get hands-on with the land, planting, harvesting,
traditional ceremony, fire, music, dance, talk-story and other aspects of a
tribal way of life- yet with the best of technology.
Note: As of today, February
24, 2007 there have been five of the 11 present that submitted their personal
mission and a perceived mission for the organization
