Cliques
Katy Betz

Ouch! The words stung like yellow jackets and gravel thrown up from a passing car.  This was the way it had always been for Josie and unless a miracle came, it would probably always be that way.  Ever since Josie moved to Cleveland, Ohio, Sarah, Carla, and their group had made fun of her and she often wondered why.

I also wonder why and I feel that girls like Sarah and Carla are going through times of extreme change.  These girls are feeling insecure about themselves, so they form cliques and only their closest and most trusted friends can join.  Like hummingbirds, the go around, sucking nectar out of other people then go home feeling full and happy.

If this type of action goes on too long, it can drain the small flowers that have been attacked.  I know what both positions feel like, I have been verbally abused by fellow classmates and yes, though Im very ashamed of it now, I have been a member of a group that pushed others away.  I thank God I realized what my friends were doing and left.  After that, I have been certain to try to be kind to all of the Lords children.  But Im only human and everyone makes mistakes.

I also think that sometimes the people who have been pushed around by another person and have gotten tired of it gather up a large number of friends and turn on the person making fun on them.  They may spread rumors about the person that had originally been doing the busing.  Also, if a person is low in society they may try to get higher by cracking jokes and giving away other peoples weaknesses.

I feel there is no excuse for this behavior, not even for revenge.  If you feel like you have been picked on, you should, no matter how much it hurts, try to forgive.  After all, were all lower than God and he never makes fun of us!
