Teen Pregnancy:
Evolution to Blame?
In today's society, there are many problems and issues to cover and solve.  From the recent kidnappings to terrorism, there are many issues in which that can not be solved.  There are also many questions and problems as well when it comes to one of the most scariest words in human history..."teenagers".

Why do they do drugs?  Why do they have sex?  Why do they need $100 shoes to look "cool"?  To tell you the truth, I have no idea.  Yet, living in the south, I have heard many stories about teens becoming pregnant.  So, why is it that they do want to have sex?  Some say it is because of hormones.  Others believe it is because teens want to become more adult and think (blaming the Germans on this one) that if you have "sex" then you are an adult.

Granted, maybe countries like Germany may believe that for men (this information comes from a teacher who has went there on many occasions), but in the U.S. it is a big "no-no".  So, why do they do it?  Another theory I want to throw in could be because of evolution.  Think about it, the reason we walk up-right and do many other things is because we evolved to do them.  Let me give you a little bit of a history lesson:

Around the time and setting that "Romeo and Juliet" was written in, around 13 or 14th century, people got married when they were between 12-14.  They had kids as soon as they could and plenty of them because of disease and low life expectancy.  Like learning to walk up-right, getting over the total effect of this teenage-lust could take a while as well.  We are getting to the point though where waiting till you are about 20 is soon to come.

However, this does not give teens an excuse to have sex.  Evolution takes time, yes, but it also takes work from everyone of a certain species.  Even though urges may creep up on them, teens should still fight them off, after all, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."  Yet, that is not true about drug or alcohol use.  This is just another theory in order to solve the problems of the universe.  Teens should make sure they know all the facts about sex and parents should educate their kids about it before they are in high school.
