"Syaoran," they were heading back towards King Penguin Park waking side by side. He looked down at her and gave her an only-for-Sakura smile. "Why did you really come back to Japan?" Syaoran stopped walking and faced her.
"Why do you want to know?"
Sajyra stared down and concentrated on a flower near growing near her foot. "I guess I'm just curious." she heard Syaoran sigh.
"I'm not entirely sure. My mother sent me here to get a break from my training... but I think theres some hidded meaning to her reason."
"At least your here now."
With that she took his arm and headed towards the swings.
They sat together in silence watching the sun set behind the trees, now and then, stealing glances from each other. Syaoran watched as Sakura's eyes filled with tears and she stood and turned away from Syaoran. "It's getting late. I should go before Tory comes looking." without a goodbye she ran away from the confused Syaoran. He was not only confused, his eyes also showed concern for her as he watched her running figure grow smaller in the fading daylight
"Baka!" Syaoran slammed his fist on one of the poles supporting the swing. "I should have told her! Why am i being such a wimp?" he turned his face up at
the slowly rising moon. He gave the moon and its silvery rays one last look before turning to walk back to his apartment.
"Hello?" her voice cracked a bit.
"Sakura?" a lone tear fell as Sakura realized that it wasnt Syaoran.
"Hi Tomoyo."
"Sakura, talk to me. What's wrong?" Tomoyo's voice was filled with friendly concern.
Sakura started to babble, telling Tomoyo what had happened and about her feelings for Syaoran that grew over the years and only deepened by his return. She told her about how she is filled with a deep sadness knowing that she longs for something she can't have. She feels for him knowing that her feelings will never be returned. Sakura burst into new tears by the time she was done talking.
"But Sakura" Tomoyo began. "cant you tell just by the way he looks at you that he loves you deeply?" Sakura didnt answer. Tomoyo paused either to think or to wait for an answer Sakura wasnt sure. But then she heard someone talking to Tomoyo on her side of the line. "sakura, I need to go right now, promise me that you'll get a good nights sleep and think about what i said."
"I promise."
"Pinky swear? You gotta say is since i cant see youi"
Sakura laughed a bit. "Earth, wind, fire, air. I proclaim a pinky swear."
"That's good enough. Bye."
"Bye."
Sakura sighed as she put down the cell phone. Her eyes were still wet from her tears when she crawled back to bed.
She was about to fall asleep when her cell phone rang again. 'I'll just let it ring.' she thought to herself. ans she started to drift into her own safe undisturbed
world of sleep.
"Uh.. hello?" Syaorn could hear the person on the other line breathing.
"Syaoran? Is that you?" Sakura sounded tired.
'I better make this fast if she's tired...' Syaoran sighed a bit. "Sakura, i need a favor to ask of you." he waited for a response.
"Sure Syaoran, anything... for you." her last words were barely audible but he could hear well enough to understand what she said.
"I need to borrow the wood and flower cards... please?" Syaoran could picture Sakura smiling a bit while she laid on her bed leaning on her elbows.
"Sure. I'll give them to you in the morning before school."
Syaoran couldnt help but smile. "Thanks Sakura. Your the best"
Sakura felt herself blush. "Your welcome Syaoran. Good night."
" `night." He put down his phone and touched the photograph of a girl he had recently recieved. "Sweet dreams..." He too soon fell asleep with a letter and a
package he recieved from his mother hidden beneath his pillow.
