| Before you read this I want you to know these facts: My entire family and I love GS and her family and we could never thank them enough for completing our family. I am very disappointed in myself for the feelings I will share with you on how I felt the night our son Mitchell was born. We consider GS and her family part of our family. I am stating all this here because as you read this, if you know GS, at all, you will hate me for the feelings I had for her the night Mitchell was born. On Thursday, March 14 GS called and had me paged at work and asked me if I was ready for my son to be born. Her water had literally just broken so, we all needed to get to the hospital. I needed to go home first, get my things gathered etc. Luckily GS DH had stayed home from work that day so he was able to drive her to the hospital. I called my husband and let him know it was time; he had to drive about 75 miles from work to the hospital so, I was afraid he might miss everything. My mom, my daughter and I arrived at the hospital about twenty minutes before GS and her husband. GS and DH arrived and then she checked into L&D and was assigned her room. Because her water had already broken they did not do a pelvic exam to check for dilation to avoid the risk of an infection. We all settled into the room, GS DH, my DH, my mom, daughter and myself. Then, we just hung out in the room for hours. Around 6:00 they asked GS about starting Pictocin, since her contractions werent regular. GS agreed but she wanted to use Emla cream to alleviate the pain of an IV and needed to give it an hour to start working at the IV sight. So, she emla creamed up some sights the nurse suggested. Because she has tricky veins it was suggested and she agreed to have an anesthesiologist start the IV. He came in a short while after she Emla creamed all the sights. He talked about her getting the epidural etc and agreed to come back around 7:00 to get her IV started. So, around 7:20 he hadnt come back so GS asked the nurse about it. He finally came back around 7:45 which my husband and I missed most of the IV because I had to run down to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for myself. When we came back the anesthesiologist was finishing the IV with the assistance of a nurse we would later get to knowGS was crying out, apparently he had to try three different sights before he finally got a good sight for the IV. |
