I listen to too much music before going to bed. This is a
song based on one of Abba's songs, and I did it a while back. Actually, I
did a lot of these stories a while back... anyway, back to the important
notes. It has shoujo ai in it. Kinda. I’ll warn you anyway. And is a bit
of a follow up to Chiquitita. ~~~~~ |

Relena leant back into the soft pillows, and shut her eyes. Heero and Duo. Quatre and Trowa. Treize and Zechs. It seemed like the whole world was turning gay. Maybe, she thought, I was wrong. Homosexuality is probably the new ‘normal’. Does that mean I have to jump on the bandwagon? But … with whom? Dorothy… Dorothy loves me, I know, but it’s… it’ll never work. I can’t do that with another girl. That’s just sick. A gentle tap at the door brought her out of her thoughts and she called out “Come in.” She knew who it was. The gentle tap was that of Quatre, only he was ever gentle like that. “Hey Relena. You seemed… not with it?” “Oh Quatre…” Relena sighed, shutting her eyes. He sat on the edge of her bed
and smiled at her softly. “ I don’t know what to do. Everyone’s so happy. And…”
I can’t cope with it anymore; I want to be in love properly. But I can’t say
that. Maybe I should… Relena had hardly lied in her life, but it seemed like a
good idea. “ certain people aren’t making it any easier.” Quatre tilted his head
understandingly. “It’s Dorothy. She’s… her mocking tone, it annoys me so much. She always teases me, making me feel stupid. I can’t cope with her around.” Quatre nodded and got up to leave. “If you want, I’ll go get her. She’ll go if you ask her to.” Quatre, of course, knew very well that what Relena was saying was rubbish. His heart was telling him. Dorothy herself had told him that she was in love with the ash-blonde girl, and he knew that Relena was upset with Heero still. Heero and Zechs, even. Ever since her brother had yelled at her, telling her to grow up about Heero & Duo’s relationship, she had ignored him. She just couldn’t seem to get along with gay people. Except him. That was understandable, he guessed. Trowa was always telling him that nobody could dislike him. “… if you could.” Quatre nodded and left, to find the sarcastic girl, in hopes that Relena wouldn’t really go through with her idea of telling her to go. Dorothy entered the room with perfection. She opened the door gently, her legs slowly yet specifically walking towards Relena’s desk. “You wished to speak with me, Miss Relena?” She asked, her words punctuated by the small smile on her lips. The last time she had said those words, Relena had ordered her to tell her her problems. Hah. It had led to a painful realization, one that had hurt both girls quite a lot. “Dorothy, I … I need you to go. You have to leave. I can’t have you here, mooning after me like a love sick puppy.” Relena stated, sitting upright. Her words mentally hit Dorothy, almost caused her to burst into tears, had she not been as strong as she was. “Why, of course Miss Relena. I’m sorry; I didn’t think that my being here would affect you so much. I’ll go pack immediately.” Dorothy left the room, her heart feeling like it was made of lead. Relena leant back against the pillows again, and sighed slightly. Suddenly, she felt empty. She just didn’t know why. They passed me by, all of those great romances It wasn’t long before Relena realized exactly why she felt empty. A few days, a week at the most. She missed Dorothy. She liked Dorothy’s quick and sarcastic sense of humour, her dry wit. Her ability to manipulate anyone and everyone. Relena was quite surprised at this fact, but it seemed the only possible explanation. Quatre had been taken ill, claiming his heart was giving him problems. Trowa had since refused to talk to her, though she herself could not understand why. Relena walked into her room and jumped on the bed. She just wished… that she hadn’t said go. That she hadn’t been so harsh to Dorothy, that she’d allowed her to stay. The close comfort that they’d grown to have, that, while a little unnatural to Relena, was pleasant. The cuddles they’d shared when Relena had gotten upset over the situations of the colonies. The massages Dorothy had given her to relax her. Relena shut her eyes and the tears slowly fell from her eyes. She wished she was with Dorothy. Having one of those sweet cuddles. Maybe she could ring her. She knew where she was, she’d made sure to keep her eyes on her, keep tabs on her whereabouts. Though technically Dorothy had been told to leave, it felt as though she was the one who left the relationship. She had pushed Dorothy away. Idiot, she cursed. You want her back, you know you do. You pushed away the only person you could really love. The thought hit her like a bucket of ice cold water. She shook her head, but couldn’t deny it. One of us is crying Idiot. You thought that you were different, better than her. You thought that you were too good to be gay. Too good. Hah. Far from it. You just wanted to make Dorothy upset because you hated the idea of being unnatural. You refused to go with her, blaming her for being a girl. But it wasn’t that at all. You refused the idea of making love to her, the idea of kissing her for the mere sake of you were afraid you’d like it too much, find out you loved her. Well it’s simple. You do love her. Stop being so childish and just admit it. You made her leave because you couldn’t believe it. Now call her… Relena got up and walked over to the phone, her arm shaking as she picked up the receiver. Slowly, she dialed the number that she knew off by heart, Dorothy’s mobile phone. I saw myself as a concealed attraction “Miss Relena? What do you want?” Dorothy asked, a slight edge in her voice, as she sounded almost breathless. “I’m kind of in the middle of something here…” Relena felt her heart drop. Dorothy was in the middle of something. Sounding breathless. Had she found someone else, on earth, to replace her already? “I… Dorothy, I want you to come back. Immediately.” She ordered. “No, Miss Relena, I can’t.” Dorothy replied angrily, annoyed at the fact Relena thought she could just order her around like a slave. Relena could hear the venom in her voice and felt a tear crawling down her face. “ I have to go, Miss Relena. I’ll call you later.” Relena nodded and put the phone down, then turned back to her bed and sat on it, crying softly. Dorothy… was with someone else. Doing what she wished she could. You snooze you lose… Oh but how unfair! Everyone gets a second chance, surely? Maybe that it was too late for that. Maybe she should just get back to work. In the room along the corridor, Quatre burst into tears, Trowa holding him gently. “I can’t take it any longer… get Dorothy on the phone.. it hurts too much…” Trowa, used to Quatre being in pain for reasons like this, did exactly as he said, and rang Dorothy. She picked up, immediately. “Dorothy, Relena needs you…Please, please come home.” Quatre muttered, and Dorothy laughed gently. “ Miss Relena only wants me there to order me around. I can’t take her bossiness any more.” “She loves you, Dorothy!” Quatre whispered, and Dorothy put the phone down. Typical. Quatre would know, though. There she was, right in the middle of a tennis match, and her mistress required her. But maybe, just maybe, Quatre was right…in the long run, she’d learnt that he usually was. She trusted him. So it was highly unlikely he’d lie. It was for this tiny belief that Dorothy got onto the next ship to the colony. One of us is crying Relena stared at the ceiling, her tears run dry, fed up with the fact that Dorothy was with someone else, doing things she wanted. She ignored the knock at the door, recognizing it as Trowa. Then a more angry knock. One that she knew, and used to worry about. Now she believed she was imagining it. She longed to hear it so much… “Miss Relena, Open This Door.” Dorothy called, then pushed the door open. Relena glanced at her. “ You called me?” “I… Dorothy?… I…” Relena paused, uncertain if she wanted to admit it, afraid it was too late. Everyone gets a second chance, she mused. “ I don’t want to ever let you out of my sight again.” “Miss Relena, am I to assume that that, that mere sentence, is your way of telling me you love me?” Dorothy asked, an almost amused, yet sincere look upon her face. Relena nodded, and then shook her head. “I thought I should… explain it further than just… saying… that… I… love you.” She stammered. Dorothy smiled in a totally amused manner. “Why, The most important person in the universe admitting they’re in love with another girl? A mere maid, at that? I am quite surprised. Of course, I don’t believe it’s that simple, but yes, I accept it.” Dorothy paused, then walked over to her and picked up her brush, brushing her hair gently. “ Miss Relena… may I just take this moment to say, out of all the people I’ve ever met, you’re the best looking?” Dorothy gently kissed Relena’s neck and whispered “But you know how to ruin a tennis game, don’t you?” Staring at the ceiling |
