He ran his coarse fingers backwards from his forehead, trying to concentrate. Already, his body ached. He was tired, and it was just the beginning. Though he disliked admitting it, he'd been wrong. The long braid that was attached to the cute, round face, had made him certain. Duo was one of those 'happy go-lucky, nothing can go wrong, optimistic' guys. Not a thing beneath his smile, no depth in his eyes - what you see was what you got. He was surely nothing but a bubble, pretty to look at, full of air. Oh, but that was wrong. So very wrong. There was so much to know about Duo yet none on file. For example, tonight, he had put on a cat suit and was dancing around like a pro. It made his blood boil, the way he kept pestering him, asking him to join in. But he gave in. For that small, real smile, he'd have blown the universe up. He had fallen for that honest smile in an instant, yet it was so rare. I never thought I'd change my opinion again, But you moved me in a way that I've never known You moved me in a way that I've never known. That was it though. One smile, one dance, then back, as promised. Back at the house with the others. The mask in place, telling the others in a joking manner of the fun that he'd had, ignoring the fact that he'd been with him. It had only been him there, no one else, in his mind. Then he turned, like a switch had been flicked on. Duo turned on him, on the others, lightly warning them not to pry, but that he was going out. He tried to stop Duo, knowing that every time he went out, he came back upset, told him it was late, that it would weaken his strength for the mission. The look that he was given was so cold it would have turned flames to ice. He dropped it, went to his room, as if he had been punished for caring about Duo. But straight away you just moved into position again, You abused me in a way that I've never known You abused me in a way that I've never known. Why did he care? He'd not cared before. Who cared what that idiot thought, or did. But he did. He cared deeply. He knew, though, that Duo wasn't going to help the situation. He'd laugh, tell him to get lost. It'd be gone, like a dream. After the war, he'd leave, not to be seen again. After all, he was cannon fodder, nothing more or less. It was still his choice, though. So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone. In the morning, Duo was his bubbly self, grinning, his eyes shining. He kept glancing his way, giving him winks, almost encouraging him to say it, admit it. He got up and left for his room, and Duo smirked, watching. Duo's actions confused him to no end, like a flip, a switch saying 'annoy switch' above it. He gave a small glare, trying to work it out, failing miserably. So you're the kind who deals with games in the mind, Well you confuse me in a way that I've never known You confuse me in a way that I've never known. Couldn't he feel this way about someone else? Someone who'd see him, treat him nicely, love him? Not confuse him, hurt him? He'd leave before the end. It was possible, surely? No. He knew it wasn't. He couldn't leave; it'd be against the mission rules. And besides, when you're in love, you can't run away and escape. It's not part of the deal. So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone. He didn't hear Duo enter the room, so much as feel his presence. "What's wrong, hm?" He asked, eyes smiling, mouth turned into a sympathetic smile. He moved closer, his braid traipsing all over the bed, but got no reply. "Hey, I can't help you if you don't explain." "It's not important." Came the reply, but Duo was ready for it, and his smile stayed without a single twitch. "Well, when you feel like talking, call me, ok?" Duo got up, talking as he moved, almost seductively. He glanced back, and his smile vanished, his eyes softened, along with his voice "Please?" He says "I can help you, but what do you say?" "But it's not free baby, you'll have to pay." You just keep me contemplating, that your soul is fading. "Then again, how can I expect you to open up to me? After all, 'we're expendable' aren't we? We have to make sure we don't get to close, it might ruin the mission." The bitterness in Duo's voice was unmistakable. He moved away to leave, sadly looking at the floor. "I used to think I could crack you. Find you, not your outer self, hard shell. I wanted to know you. I used to care about you." "You cared about me? Why? To tease me, that was your mission, I bet. Tease him out of his trust, make fun of him when he falls for you." "No, because I love you. I wanted to see if under all that training, there was a human. A human who was able to love. There isn't though, is there? Just a cute body, perfect soldier trained in everything and anything except love." Duo left without shutting the door, his feet making little sound as they carried him to his own room, hair leaving an invisible trail behind him as he ran. God don't you know I live with a ton of regret, Coz I used to move you in a way that you've never known But then I accused you in a way that you've never known But you hurt me in a way that I've never known. The world collapsed. That's how it felt. Something inside him awoke; pushing its way out, telling him he'd pushed Duo too far. He didn't just hate himself anymore, not like he used to, now he physically wanted to hurt himself, punish himself. It was his fault. He could've changed it, broken free. It would've been ok afterwards. But now, now it was too late. Now, Duo would want to be alone. So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone So break me, shake me, hate me, take me over, Coz when the madness stops then you will be alone. "Duo..." He called, quietly, as if murmuring it to himself. He got up and walked along to Duo's room, gently knocking on the door. Not a sound came from inside, unless you count the quiet sobs. He considered knocking again, but instead just opened the door and entered. Duo lay face down on his bed, tears falling slowly, soaking him, his clothes and the bed. "Duo, I..." "Leave me alone. Go complete a mission. that's all you're able to do, isn't it?" Duo held up a hand as if to wave him away. "I..." "Just go!" Duos voice gained more strength, but he still remained facing the bed. "But..." "GO!" Listen, baby You'll be, You'll be alone. "Duo, I care about you a lot, and if that's what you want then I'll go, but..." Break me, "Yes, I want you to go!" Duo literally screamed it at him, piercing his heart. "You... Want me to go?" He repeated, and Duo jumped up and turned on him, eyes wide and angry. "No, I don't. I don't want you to go at all! I like knowing you care, but if you don't go, I'm going to end up doing something I'll regret." Duo said, shaking him hard. Shake me, Hate me, "Like what? You can't hurt me!" He replied, glancing at Duo's hand. "You know you can't hurt me, it's not possible. I'm the perfect soldier, remember?" He hissed. Take me, Make me "Who said anything about hurting you? I meant I'd do something else that I'd regret." Duo removed his hand, still sounding furious, his entire body shaking. Fake me, Break me, "What else could you do that'd be regretful?" He replied, his voice raising. "It's not like there's anything you can do that'll shock me, Duo." "Not a thing, eh? I don't think so." Duo reached up with his hand, and pulled his face closer. He could see the intensity in Duo's eyes clearly, making them turn from violet to indigo. Shake me, Hate me "I can." "Prove it." Take me. Duo reached up with his other hand and kissed him full on the lips. For the first time since he couldn't remember when, Heero broke free, awoke, and the perfect soldier fell weak to his feelings, kissing Duo back passionately. Heero moved his arms around Duo and held him tightly, never to let him go. Break me. |
