| Ben asked me to marry him on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1999. We had been snapping at each other all day for absolutely no reason. We decided to go to a book store to look at a few items. Oddly, my mother and little sister walked in soon after us. So, Ben told my mom to distract me while he looked at a ring he wanted to give me. Both my parents were expecting Ben to ask me any day now, so she gladly helped out. So, while we looked at Wedding Guest Books, Ben picked out my ring size and the ring box. After words, Ben and I went up to the mountain foothills and wandered around for a bit. We stopped after a while and sat on a huge rock and looked down at the city. We were talking about nothing and everything when Ben asked me if he could ask me a question. I told him yes, not suspecting a thing. He pulled out the box and handed it to me. While I opened it and looked at the ring that said "Eternity," he asked me if I would be his wife for as long as that ring said. With tears streaming down my face, I said "Yes." |
